I promise you the magnesium and calcium ratios in your plant food are balanced at a certain ratio. Calcium and magnesium will compete for uptake through the same path and too much of one will lead to a deficiency of the other. Hence why it’s always sold and used together, “CalMag”. If I need more magnesium I do use Epsom salts but only with a foliar spray so I don’t mess up this balance in the soil itself.
