Cherry Paloma Question

I popped some Cherry Paloma seeds and they are a little stretchy. Just a few days old, but can’t seem to hold themselves up. Never had any issues with stretching before. They’re sitting under about 300 PPFD right now so it’s not a light issue. They have been given Si, Canna, great white, and a breeze since birth. Which was four days ago🤣 I’ve got them propped up, so I’m sure the stems will thicken up, but I thought I’d ask because I know a lot of people on here have grown it before. Is this kind of typical for CP? Is it something that will pass or am I going to be dealing with weak stalks? Btw… if my little springy holder wasn’t there, it would be completely leaning over.🤔

For some reason, the app or website won’t let me edit the post, but I was going to mention that maybe instead of stretchy, weak was the right word:…

build the soil up around the base. that’s what i do with all my stretchy plants.

My seedlings get weak from getting to wet. The stretch is not so much the ppfd but the distance. I put my light dim and like a foot off seedlings to lower stretch. As retro mentioned. Piling media on the stalk is safe, it allows new feeder roots to grow out as it supports more.

Thanks! That brings up even more questions that I have had for a while. Theoretically, PPFD should affect the plant the same regardless of the fixture height. However, I’ve always thought that is not not the case. I think it must have something to do with the heat and leaf surface temperature as well as PPFD.

Very good point, cant say i truely know. The spring thaw and those temps do a lot for seedlings, i say youre onto something.

    Humidity also causes stretch.
