Grow Dot Supplementation
Posted by big-bad-kells on January 30, 2025 at 11:44 amIn my current grow, I am running an extended veg in an effort to get more than a 2-1/2 foot plant this run. I use only grow dots and recharge for my grow.
I’m in week 5 of veg and probably need 2-3 more weeks. I’m worried about nutrients running out before it finishes. What should I use if the nutrients run out?

I would recommend a bloom additive like Bloombastic from Atami. I’ve personally used it and it works great to get you across the finish line. 👌

What usage rate did you use? You may not have enough nutrition to provide vigorous growth is you used less than 25 grams of Grow Dots per gallon of media. How much is released on a daily basis is determined by the concentration of the Grow Dots. The time of their release is based on the formula. Extended Veg provides plenty of time to grow a large plant. The time of the release for the Extended Veg formula is set to release a vegetative ratio of nutrients for about 3 months before releasing the flowering ratio of nutrients for 10+ weeks. 3 months of veg is plenty of time to grow a tree indoors with enough light.

Heavy and a bit generous on the scoops when I measure it

I’ve had excellent results right at 20 per gallon. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I even see slight nutrient burn on the tips.
My last grow used 20.8 grams per gallon, and I got 3.5 ounces of Cherry Paloma out of one plant.
What I worry about in your case is that before you flip to flower, you’re going to run out of Nitrogen. After the first 6 weeks, the N decreases. With Grown Dots, you have to stick to the schedule. I’d either flip them now, or if you really think you need more veg time, you may need to supplement. I would flip right now if it were me.

He said he has the extended veg version so that wouldn’t apply here if I’m not mistaken

Actually i just reread it and im not sure if he’s using extented veg or not because he just said he’s “running an extended veg” so maybe he’s just running a longer veg time? 🤷♂️ If he’s using the regular dots I’m with you fs

I meant extended veg by longer than the usual 4 weeks. I’m just using the regular version.

I’d flip now. They’re going to stretch in Flower anyway.

Flipped it yesterday. Hopefully I can still get a GPS yield despite it being only over 16″ tall

I am running a grow now with grow dots and organic ammendments. Plants still want more. I ran 5 week veg and I am in week 2 of flower. Have had to ammend twice to keep plants happy. Maybe the dots don’t release correctly in organic soil? Or my plants are just hungry……

I usually start by checking my ph. Especially when I think there should be enough nutes available but the plant looks deficient.

So If I am running 3 gal fabric pot I need 75 grams of grow dots? I prob shouldnt use the extended one if I am running an auto huh? I heard running the grow dots with autos was the trick and plants loved it. I have about 3 more weeks until I have the cycle and I’m gonna run some fast buds but like I said I’m worried about going into a deff

A 3 gallon pot generally will put you into a 4 week veg. But even in a 5 gallon it’s 28 -35 days I currently am in a 3 gal, day 30, and started to stretch yesterday. Use the minimum dosage, 4 week veg

I used 75 grams of grow dots in Scotty’s real buckets. It was too much. I got a decent harvest, but my plants had pretty bad nute burn. Since then I’ve used 45 grams for each 3 gallon pot and that seems to be working pretty well. Also, I was growing photo period. Autos may be different.

I noticed you used Real Buckets @ 75 Grams. 3 gallon pot you mentioned is that the grow bucket pots?
-
Yes. They hold 3 gallons of media, and water below that.
