Is getting the controller worth it?

Is getting the controller worth it?
I Was recently gifted a California Light Works SolarSystem 550. Without the controller it defaults to whatever setting the previous owner used. (Commercial grow that closed shop about 1/3 way through the expected life of the lights) Would it be worth getting the controller for it to dial in the RBW settings, or should I stick with the old school outlet timer?
I am happy with the timer, just not sure if the controller would be of enough value to be worth the $150+ price tag.

I’m not familiar with that specific light, but it looks like its got a couple different spectrum tuning options. If you arent going to get the controller I would at least make sure you know what setting the light is stuck on so you understand what sort of spectrum it is putting out. If its locked in flower spectrum mode you could probably just hang it up in the flower room and let it rip, but if its got other spectrum settings or if its set in veg mode or something you would probably want to get the controller to adjust or change that. So yeah, it sounds like you might be needing a controller.
