Vegging during flowering

    My first time taking clones…

I only have one tent and I’m about to take clones, then flip to flower. Can I veg the clones in the same tent I’m flowering in? I just want them there until they’re big enough to put outside in my raised bed.

No. The clones can not be on a flowering schedule if you want them to remain in veg.

Thanks 🙂 I thought you answered my question about min temps and light needed for growing, and said that 6 hours of light was needed (and in the 70-80F range).

So, if seedlings could veg in those conditions, how is that different from inside a flowering tent? What am I missing, please?

I mentioned plants need to 6 hours of direct light to ‘live’ or survive. That does not mean they’ll be in a vegetative state. All that means is a plant can be outside in mostly shade with only 6 hours of direct light a day to grow. It will not be vigorous growth and it will probably flower. Shade is not uninterrupted darkness though. Just because a plant is shaded most of the day in the middle of the summer (up north) it doesn’t mean it’s on a flowering schedule. Plants need uninterrupted darkness to flower. More than 8 hours of uninterrupted darkness is needed to start pre-flowering for most photoperiod cannabis plants. You can keep mothers indoors under a 16/8, 17/7, 18/6, up to a 24 hour schedule. Less than 16 hours of light will cause plants to pre-flower. In Florida it doesn’t matter what day you put a plant outside, it will start to flower because Florida doesn’t get more than 16 hours of light like up north where there is a veg period. In order to keep a photoperiod plant in the vegetative state, it needs more than 16 hours of light a day.

Does this mean they will start the flower cycle? If so, how can you plant outside and not flower early before 15.5 hours of sunlight every day is reached? I’m confused.

The clones will start to flower. Indoor plants on an 18/6 schedule will pre-flower when taken outside where there’s less than 16 hours of light. Plants can be triggered to pre-flower, but not flower. Like going from 24 hours of light down to 18 hours. This drop can initiate pre-flowers because of the decrease in light. Transition time can be short or very long. Plants growing around the equator get a 12/12 schedule year round. Some equatorial plants can take 6 months to flower with no veg period. They transition slowly into flower over several months.

          Great! Thanks.

Does this mean I can get a small harvestable plant, not long after cloning by just planting the clone outside after rootset? I’ve got a fast flower cultivar that flowers for 6 to 7 weeks, so as soon as it goes outside (allowing root growth time in my flipped-to-flower tent), it’ll flower in that time as long as it is getting less than 16 hours of sunlight, is that right?

Yes. You’d grow a small plant.

Negative soldier, different light cycles have to be in different areas 👌

I’ve seen people put cheap flood lights above their outdoor gardens to keep plants in veg. This is just one idea if looking for something.

    Cheers
