So if you can get the photon app and measure your light or you can do what I do I keep my light at the top of my tent I start seedings at around 35 to 40 % if they start stretching I slowly ramp it up and every week till flower I at about 5% more light till I’m about 75to 80 % and flip then do the same in flower till I hit 100% I’m ruing a 500 watt mars hydro 4800fce do the same in 2×4 with 300w mars hydro

200-300 ppfd for clones, 400-500 ppfd for seedlings, 500-600 ppfd for young plants, 800-1100+ ppfd for mature plants in flower.

is ppfd the same as par?

Im still learning about all this. I just picked up a par meter. What would the conversion factor be, if there is one?

Think of PAR as the Spectrum and PPFD as the intensity.

I honestly never go by light Hight. I only go with the par rating. Correct me if i should be paying attention to this.

The photone app is fairly decent but with reflection off my screen it was hard to read. I bought a cheaper but decent ppfd meter on Amazon. I put a magnet on the end of a yard stick. Now I can attach that and move it around the grow while I can see my screen just fine.

I like my lights 12-30″ above my plants. most lights will recommend a height in that range. the idea is for max coverage at a even saturation . then set your ppfd at leaf height.

Agreed for max even coverage instead of one 400watt light i went with 2-200watt lights. Measured with a ruler and set them evenly spaced front to rear and side to side. Then I start with the lights at 100% high up and i lower them closer till I get the ppfd i want. This gives the max even spread of light.
