What’s up DGC?! I want to hear your process of cleaning & sanitizing your tent or grow room! What tools & products do you use? How often are you cleaning and/or sanitizing? Do you have any tips or tricks to make the process quicker & more efficient? What’s your procedure for bringing in “used” grow gear or cleaning anything that’s not new directly from the box(or do you still clean before using out of the box)? Hit me with all those squeaky clean details!✌🏼❤️🪴🔥💨

Hydrogen peroxide and citric acid are the only 2 ingredients you need to clean.

One topic I don’t see discussed often!

Just like people, plants need nutrients-but they also require proper hygiene to help prevent diseases, viruses, bacteria, and pollen from spreading between cultivars.

Maintaining a high level of hygiene reduces the spread of bacteria and fungal spores that can harm cannabis roots, leafs, and flowers, ensuring healthier plant growth and better yields. Keeping your grow room and tent clean, organized, and sanitized is key to preventing pests, diseases, pollen, and mold from affecting your cannabis plants. A consistent cleaning routine, proper airflow, quality filters, insect traps, can help strengthen your grow space against these threats.

I have a few methods I use to keep my grow space clean, and l’d like to share them with the community.

    My Cleaning Process

    1. Remove Debris: After finishing a cultivation cycle, I start by vacuuming the tent to remove any plant matter or dust.
    2. Remove the Carbon Filter: Before using ozone (03), remove the carbon exhaust filter, as ozone can damage it. This is also a great time to wash the pre-filter fabric in a washing machine. Additionally, any tools that aren’t normally kept in the tent can be placed inside during the ozone treatment for sterilization.
    3. Ozone Sterilization: I use an $80 ozone generator from Amazon, similar to those used by car detailers to eliminate pests, germs, and cigarette smoke. I set the machine to run for 15 minutes, seal the tent, and turn off the exhaust fan to prevent O3 from escaping. Make sure to plug shut your fresh air inlet to avoid ozone leaking out into your living space. After the 15 minute cycle, turn the exhaust fan back on full power to vent the ozone outside your home for about 10 minutes before opening the tent. (Be careful-O3 is highly reactive and can be harmful. It will literally kill everything, including you and your pets if inhaled in high concentrations. When using O3 have your exhaust venting out side)
    4. Surface Disinfection: Once the ozone has dissipated, I wipe down all surfaces, crevices of the tent and tools inside the tent using a diluted bleach solution spray and or clorox disinfectant wipes or both together.
    5. Expand Cleaning to the Surrounding Area: I clean everything within a six-foot radius outside the tents to eliminate any lingering contaminants. I also run a $200 HEPA air filtration system in my lung room 24/7 to help capture dust, pollen, and other airborne particles that is being pulled in from the HVAC air exchange of your home and also whatever you’re dragging in from outside.
    6. Sanitize Equipment: I thoroughly clean all grow equipment before the next cycle to prevent cross-contamination. Scissors, trimmers, spray bottles, water traps and any other tools needed to cultivate to get sprayed with a bleach solution, rinsed, and dried before reuse.
    7. By following this process, l’ve successfully avoided issues with diseases, viruses, and stray pollen. Keeping a sterile environment is essential, especially if you’re growing multiple cultivars in the same space. A clean grow room leads to healthier plants and better harvests.
