I’ve been dealing with type one diabetes for the last 40 years and I was also diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 3 years ago. I’m fully disabled now and not working, but I’m still able to manage my grow, with a few accessories and modifications. I’ve been slowly losing the ability to stand up to work on my plants, especially any inside my elevated flowering tent. It’s on top of a platform so I’m not kneeling down, which is hard for me to get up from.
I’m using a small chair to sit on while I work inside my small propagation/veg tent. It’s not setup on a platform like the big flowering tent though. I can get into work both sides of the big tent, but only one side of the small tent.
I will be moving everything to the garage in the spring, after building a purpose built grow room. The wife doesn’t have enough candles or air fresheners to keep the smell down when I grow in the kids old bedroom inside.
I can offer some tips and tricks for growing on a budget and dealing with multiple disabilities.. I am not an expert because I just started growing in 24, but I worked in industrial sanitation and industrial maintenance for 16 years before becoming completely disabled and unable to work. I did home construction and residential electrical work for many of my younger years too. My garage grow room is going to be built to accommodate my most limiting disability, even if I have to make it from scraps, which I have done since the beginning of my growing journey.

Thanks my friend, I will eventually be in the wheelchair full time so hopefully I can get it built while I’m able. Any suggestions for making things easier for a chair bound grower, which I am likely to be in a few years?

Yeah bro, they kicked ” Banned” oldestschool, the guy that started this thread. But you can scroll up and send messages to other disabled folks and they’d be glad to help out.

This Let me start by saying, I’m a Senior citizen and two time cancer survivor. Due to heavy chemotherapy I’m left with peripheral nephropathy (Little to no feeling) in my hands and feet. I have learned to adapt to doing things like growing by using tools that make it semi automated as much as possible. For example, using Real Buckets, modified Real Bucket reservoirs and humidifiers which I hooked up to my RO system that allows me to maintain water levels. Ive also added two 1/2 inch shutoff valves with Brass disconnect fitting between my reservoirs and the real Bucket Planters to aid in cleaning. I have plans to add the brass garden hose connectors between all planters for easy removal for cleaning. I also purchased a small Wet Vac and a regular shop vac for cleaning up dry stuff. I grow for my medicine and pleasure.

Another Real Bucket mod in my 5×5 tent I did today that lets me separate the bucket for cleaning (we need to clean our watering buckets, they can get funky) and/or moving as needed. 1/2 inch valves for isolation and 1/2 inch hose connectors from Amazon for easy disconnection points. The way I did it gave me an extra foot between buckets and worked like a charm.

Do you happen to have the Amazon links to the specific parts you purchased for this? I also use RealBuckets and that would be super handy!

I guess Im lucky Im not in a chair but I have multiple issues stemming from (5):back operations, the latest neck operation disc replacement and fusion has left me unable to do much. I also have asbestosis from the naval shipyard. So lung cancer will likely get me eventually, (hence why i limit my bong rips! Ha) , maybe, maybe not, something will! I have a ct scan scheduled for my lungs next month, so will see how that goes. Growing is very healing for me! I’m with you guys!

I am a disabled grower. Back surgery, transplants, amputations, and a slew of other complications. I am 66 on SSI. Was a member of NORMAL in the 70’s until I joined the army. I am a veteran and depend on the VA for my medical needs.
I shifted in 2018 from growing in outdoor gorilla grows to an indoor setup. I could no longer hike to my grows with water, nutes, etc. Yes I am in a red state…bummer.
I use a mechanics stool to work on my girls. I am limited to 10gal pots, and an Earthbox, that is about 10gal also. Yes I am an organic grower…sorry.
I grow in what I deem a super soil. I think to have a legitimate living soil you need at least 30gals. I may be wrong, but in any case 10 gals are about my weight limit so far as lifting. I also use a blumat watering system with a 5 gal res.
I reamend and reuse my soil for about 5 cycles then start fresh with Build a Soil 3.0. The used media goes into my outdoor raised bed. I grow the usual tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, carrots, basil, cilantro, onions and garlic. I also planted ramps. All this in a 4×6 bed.
Being disabled doesn’t stop me from growing, but it does limit some aspects of my grow. No more 3 pound outdoor yields, but the quality of my harvbest has greatly improved.
Even though I am disabled I can still produce high quality cannabis. Love will find a way and I love my medicine.

When a grower put all the love they can into their plants, the plant blesses in return!

What a great place, my disabled son never got old enough to grow up or grow, but he was taking after me , so we would have been here.
My daughter is handling my farm while I travel so it would have come natural.
I’m gathering a ton of cbd and 1:1’sto see if there is a magic strain for an all day smoke that relieves and takes the edge off but not a silly mess.. the cbd side i think I found it in ringos gift… I have so many beans I can share.. but only if some is really seeking relief weed vs stoney.. ( I ordered a 10 pack… way to stoned.non cbd… actually ordered 100 pack and it had 127… I have 8 repacked packs of 8 . I’d share for the cost of postage.. if 8 people want, send me a friend request and we can take it off line.. if more than 8 , a good story for someone in need and I’m a softy I might give up more than the 64 deemed excessive… wife deemed 117 excessive..she wrong
Sorry if out of place, but the other posts caught my attention

I’m trying my best to avoid the knife again or postpone it as long as possible. I had a nerve ablation recently, it’s been a nightmare. I’ve got three hot spots that need fusions so it’s kinda like whack a mole with my daily aches and pains. I’ve built a water cart so I’m not toting water. I also generally elevate my pots so it’s easier to sit on a bucket to tend the plants. I recently expanded my grow as well as my needs have grown and I’m trying to build up a surplus so that when I do have to go in. I have plenty of medicine to get me through the down time. Also moving more towards edibles and RSO. The main thing I do is “Pace Myself” and take breaks when needed. This is the hardest part mentally for me as I’m used to just powering through. The best thing is you can just sit down smoke a bowl and enjoy the grow.
