Weird Strain Names??

Hey guys, been watching the YouTube videos, listening to you chat about growing always either teaches me something or reminds me about something, looking to get back into it!

Got 5 strains from a friend of a friend and I don’t even know if a couple of them are real strains, has anybody had any decent success with any of these?

And if I’m being honest, they all are starting to look like they are from the same mother…

    The Strains….

    King Juice

    Serbert

    God Kush

    Mothers Milk

    Strawberry Kush

They are in 3gallon fabric pots and im using PRO MIX HP and strive nutrients, i topped them all once, and thats it…

They look happy to me but they do look like they may all have the same mother?? Am I crazy?? Did I hit the Jackpot? Or should I be seed shopping????

I used to grow about 10-15 years ago and I’ve got probably 5-6 solid grows under my belt and a couple not so solid ones starting out 🤷‍♂️

Our main thing was mushrooms and mycology, spores, liquid cultures, cakes, and Rubbermaid tubs, ifykyk ;) I used to frequent forums like this back in the day, mainly the shroomery.org, my dad ran the FSRC (Free Spore Ring Canada) and Raplhsters Canada, and I did a lot of research in forums like this, my dad showed me how forums like this can be a huge asset. Some things you can’t research and you need an educated opinion. So if you guys are cool, this is where I’ll be posting my grow pictures and hopefully making some like minded friends. Im a 35 year old dude from Southern Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 i got 7 kids and this for me is a hobby…

I just spent $800 on a VIVOSUN complete grow kit, with a couple heating pads and domes and some goodies…. IM SOOOO PUMPED!! Its still in the mail 🙄 Soon as I got the clones I started me a rooftop garden for now… had to get some other plants of course 😎

I plan on using it as a veg tent and making as many clones as I can and putting them outside before everything starts to flower, and then ordering a flower tent after harvest time to flower everything but my favorite mother and then go from there.

I have never grown cannabis outdoors, always indoors… When does the photoperiod switch to 12hrs in nature? Trying to figure out how much time I have left to cut clones, and get them in the ground, even if they are only beer cups sized plants when they go in the ground, that may be a good thing in some areas.. because they won’t be very tall by the end of flower.

My tent shows up any day now and I plan on putting the girls in there and letting them acclimate to the environment for a while, before cutting clones, if I have time, and then cutting as many clones as possible…

I plan on ordering some grow dots for the outdoor plants and recharge for the moms afterwards..

Am I too late for this plan already?? Any flaws in my plan?? If you had these, a decent setup, and maybe a lil money to burn, what would you do? Any advice is welcome, BEFORE I chop every top off of these moms ;)

  • We just had summer solstice, every day now is a minute or two shorter.

better act quick if your taking clones…

    • Agreed. When do you think the female sexual primordium will begin to develop on plant growing outside in the natural light? Given the skotoperiod is dependent on your latitude.

Selfish question as I have 6 mothers in ground that will be taking cuts from. Taking cuts from a flowering plant is a long-term project.

      • ‘strain dependant’ haha.

Honestly, I dont have enough experience to say specifically. My hunch is about an hour less than the longest day. idk…?

        • I was guessing end of July, first of August. My real problem is cleaning the clone cuts before bringing them inside.

Going to be hitting them with SEVIN during July, then a wash, weak bleach, and isolation.

          Good Luck!

          • I’m popping those Fried Strawberries from the DGC Cup! Thanks Big Dog!

            • Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again for your interest in my work!

          • Thanks, best of luck to you as well. Have fun

          • Thanks, good luck to you as well. Have fun.

    • Change in daylenght is not constant, it is fastest around equinox and slower around solstice. Also plants have knack at knowing whats happening and react later with the weather being also delayed from solstice; most of summer is after that…

  • If you’ve not been into the cannabis world recently, you’ll be surprised at all the different strain names. There’s so many people growing and breeding cannabis that strain names are all over the place. Mephisto has the best strain names as far as weird ones go. Bear Assed Monkey, 12 Assed Raven, 4 Assed Monkey, ManBearAlienPig.

    • years ago Id ask whats the strain? he’d say, call it whatever you want. do you want it or not?

  • Not sure of strains but i am sure those plants are asking for nitrogen. The are too light green.

  • Thanks guys, fed them some nutrients, and my tent came in 😎😎

I looked at the weather app and there’s a 15hr difference between sunrise and sunset today, so I think I’m good for a while, hopefully have a few more weeks to get clones in the ground

  • In broad terms you have a good plan and seem comfortable with growing living stuff, so now its about evaluating speed of growth in space and soil within a certain time frame for proper number of plants… and sow on and sow on, I have a theoretical «last» planting date for Zone 3b-46°N it is at the end of July, i did it once and will forever remember because two days after my mom passed away, i planted my leftover spare clones in full grownd on July 29th with around one foot of spacing between, they bolted and flowered into a nice canopy around 16 tall, that was the pink hair Freisland, but give me any strain and ill get it ther...like that time i pulled off PPP due to planned small pots, they finnished in half buried bottomless 5 gallons after 14 days indoors in 6` pots at 18-6 hrs… an sow on and sow on, cheers, good growing to you!</p>

  • I would have to say that the name of strains is also a problem, even when you remove the question of strain or cultivar, If the hibridization has gone so far that you cant use the parents name like White Gorrilla is clearly White widow X Gorrilla Glue but you can use half the words, this slye of nomenclature was and is respected by some, the obvious problem arises if there are 8 known parents in the pedigree, and if they are known and no inbreeding was done; you should not give it a new name, but a nick-name can suffice. A cultivare should by deffinition; be able to reproduce itself with fairly consistent results through sexual reproduction, so in my opinion Feminised and Hybrid seed can not be called a cultivar or strain. Just my thoughts for now, maybe not tomorow .

  • I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this, thanks, I can work with that, that gives me roughly 4 weeks, I have experience cloning and that will give them a couple weeks of veg time before they go out doors, I’ll post updates as I go :)

  • Looks good man, I feel like a lot of genetics look very similar during the early stages of vegetation, but will start becoming easier to differentiate once they get closer to sexual maturity or you go into flower.

As for the different genetics you mentioned, I know Greenhouse Seeds out of the Netherlands have a King’s Juice that I have heard amazing things about (that’s the only kings Juice that I know)

  • Got some cuts of Kodiak freez inna Dome right now, if i`m doing good i should do a small test run with a dozen in fullground as late as late is, i might get em to veg for a week indows before the end of the month, mmmm not sure, but i just have to test it to see if we live up to the word of legends, this also means i have to fix up some soil-bed time-space situation, cheer DGC. and we should be vegging that branch overwinter with Nanny, and sow on and sow on…

  • Everything is looking great, and im starting to see subtle differences in them now, the strawberry Kush has more red in the stems , and the mothers milk tends to root faster and clone better

Got the mothers milk outside and the other 4 in the tent, im about to order a better light tomorrow and flip to flower when it arrives, scrog is full 😎😎

Got some clones growing nicely outside and a bunch i just transplanted in the bottom of my tent, it gets real hot outside so they are gonna stay in there till the light shows up

    Some update pictures😎😎
