Prepping my outdoor grow area for end of May planting. I’ll have a mixture of the existing topsoil (use to be a farm field decades ago so the topsoil is about a foot deep) and Compost (Locally purchased and recommended by a couple or friends, I believe it is a leaf and manure combination and aged pretty well). I’ll be watering using the Blumat rings and a gravity reservoir. Has anyone tried and had success using Growdots in a in ground grow like this? Would love to hear how you pulled it off.

I use grow dots extended veg for my outdoor grow. I just went today out on the field and trained the ladies. I made a post with some pics. They’re just two weeks out on the field and are in very good shape, no signs of nutrient def at all. For each plant i dug out abt 5gl of soil and mixxed the grow dots under the soil and then planted the clone in the dug out, refilled it with the mixed soil.

Thank you. That was right in line with what I was thinking. the application rate you chose was like planting in a 5 gal pot I would guess?

Yes, i would have done the same if i had planted them in a 5 Gl pot. I used a bit less then the recomended amount of 1 Tbsp per Gl of soil, because they soil is already a fertile one.

Haven’t used them in ground but I did transfer an orangegasm from a solo in my tent outdoors in a 7 gal with old soil + growdots and she has been loving life I’m sure it’ll depend on your area + the suns cycles etc but all and all I think it’s worth a go

I am going to give it a whirl. Did you apply at the rate for a 7 gal pot? did you use regular or extended?

I used regular growdots at the rate for a 7gal, depending on where you are extended may be a better call though. Where I’m at I’m 13-11/12-12 basically all year so I knew I didn’t need as much time for veg
