heavyzakucustomParticipantApril 9, 2025 at 1:34 pmI was scrolling on reddit and someone in an organic gardening sub said they use coconut water on their plants in flower. I did some light googling and I read a few articles that state 15mL per Liter and its mineral content phosphorus, Calcium and some enzymes are beneficial. I also noticed as well, that buildasoil sells a dried coconut water powder. the thing is im not really seeing anything that isnt saying this but at the same time trying to sell me their product and im wary of claim and would prefer personal testimonials before I purchase it
has anyone tried it on their marajuana grows? success? pitfalls?

I dont have any idea myself but very very interested on any added info as well. Coconuts to me are like cannabis in the sense of so many potential benefits and uses for medicinal reasons. I infuse coconut oil weekly and take dosing even if not needed. I haven’t been sick the past three times my whole family has been

There are some minerals in coconut water as well as hormones beneficial during flowering, like kelp has hormones more beneficial during the vegetative stage.

No. Kelp is full of auxins (for veg) and coconut water is full of cytokinins (for flower). Auxins are dominant within the plant during veg and cytokinins are dominant within the plant during flower. Together they’ll always equal 100%. If the auxin ratio is 50% or greater the plant stays in veg. Once cytokinin levels break above 50% and auxin levels go below 50%, the plant starts to flower.

A coconut is basically a big ass seed. Like most seeds, it’s full of useful vitamins and minerals that can give plants a boost. Coconut water also contains cytokinins, a plant hormone that helps with plant structure and stem strength. This can be really helpful in early to mid flower when plants are starting to stack buds.
Ive used the buildasoil freeze dried coconut powder for many years. It’s good stuff and priced well compared to buying liquid coconut water from the grocery. I believe you want to use about 1/2 tsp of powder per gal if you are feeding it directly to plants. (you can also turn it into drinkable coconut water with 1 Tbsp per cup, just make sure you dilute it further of you are planning on feeding to plants. I like to add 1/2tsp of the powder to my lemonade to make a nice refreshing drink)
here’s a video with a crap ton more info:
