Just wanted to throw this out there as I am highly interested in this process and am willing to give it a shot. Want to know if anyone has any experience in this method and if there are any tips/tricks to ensure a quality end product. I’ve heard many good things but still am a bit skeptical….

  • I’d never heard of it, but I just looked it up. It’s drying in a fridge, basically?

I always chuck a few buds into a paper bag and into the fridge when I harvest. Those buds always come out more fragrant and retain their bright green colour rather than turning green/brown.

My drying skills are not perfected so I wouldn’t take this as proof, just proof of concept.

It takes at least two weeks to dry in the fridge but the results are nice.

    • Yeah its like a fridge dry/cure — heard great things about it and the final product. Just find it hard to believe its as easy as tossing your buds in a paper bag, throwing in the fridge and monitoring the RH and temp and rotating your buds every few days….. is it really that easy?

    • Well, this is interesting. Coincidentally , I just harvested this morning. Ill toss a few buds in a bag and into the fridge . Curious to see how it goes.

I really enjoy hearing of these types of alternative methods for growing as a hobby.

      Thx!

  • I have a buddy that lives by this, buds always dank as can be. He goes as far as a winter harvest sealing in coolers and placing out in cold. I dont know the details of it but it takes like a month before he uses. It washes superb every time. Its no doubt always stinkin!

  • so I bought a minifridge for this purpose….. turns out I need a frost-free model and I did not get one of those….. back to looking for a proper fridge…

  • I have a humidor with temp and humidity control. Was about $200 on Amazon. Holds perfect temperature and humidity. I put a sensor in there to track it and even though it has fans in added a tiny usb fan. Its a poor man’s canatrol. Temp and humidity control are crucial. Most only have temperature. But i do 60/60 for 2 weeks then I start lowering the humidity setpoint over another 3 weeks till its at 60 deg/55%. And I leave it in there unless I need the space then I I will put it in jars. Comes out so smooth and perfect.

    • With a fridge if you dont have temp and humidity control you will always be chasing that around.

    • a humidor you say??? sounds like another option that might be suitable.

      • but with a fridge it doubles as a fridge….. my home fridge keeps a consistent 40F and 20% RH. I think i can make the fridge work but a humidor does sound tempting

        • found a suitable fridge for 30 bucks….. here’s hoping this one will work- its frost free :)

  • just harvested and am going to try this out! I’ll let u all know how it goes!

  • I gave this a try and just pulled them out of the bag this morning. 14 days in the fridge. I cut a half dozen, 6 or 7 inch stems and put them into a paper lunch bag and fold it closed. I didn’t snip off the individual buds. Most of the buds now break off the stem with little resistance. (It took 7 or 8 days for those hanging in the closet.)

I’ll have to experiment with this again, as this initial trial seem positive.
