Poppin’ seeds, shot glass start

I have started seeds in cubes under a dome with T5 and heat pad. In solo cups under the dome with T5, in 1, 3, and 5 gallon pots all successfully with no issues. I soak for 24 hours in a dark cabinet with RO water and a few drops hydrogen pyroxide then do the paper towel.

In case anyone missed it they all germinated and had tap roots and all broke through the soil in 5 gallon fabric pots (they’re all autos). I think in a couple I was trying to compensate for the medical interruptions and removed the plastic dome a day or two too early.

Just like when I grew tomatoes, carrots, peppers, cucumbers and melons out in the yard for years some seeds fail to take hold. I don’t expect 100% success because fifty years of lawn car and gardening experience tells me that is a nice goal but impossible to reach consistently. I pulled the one that wasn’t going to make it and replaced with a Banana Purple Punch from Fast Buds. I had a little setback but no big deal.

If I seedling isn’t doing well I’d rather eat the cost and dispose of it. It’s just not worth the hassle and frustration to try and fix everything. Chop the little $$@#er and start over is just easier.

My ultra modern nursery has damn close to a 100% germination rate. The seedling died after breaking soil. Bad genetics on free samples and a month from hell are to blame.

100% my last run. I have only lost one seedling after breaking soil dating back to 8/23. The only others that I didn’t finish were a couple bag seeds that ended up being males.
