Slow Growth or Normal?

Hey all. First time grower, so apologies up front for the beginner question. Popped my first seed 2 weeks ago in solo cup with BAS3.0 . It finally came thru the soil last week (first picture). Fast forward a week and the growth seems slow(?). I watered with recharge once last week. Checked PPFD and it was around 100. I increased it to 150. Measured with Photone and diffuser. VPD is hovering around 1.0

Back in the day I had a bunch of seeds I overwatered and the soil didn’t dry out quickly enough. They never really grew much. If your soil is good I have no ideas. Good luck✌

Over-watered seedlings are almost always stunted. They’ll typically need watered only twice in a solo cup the first 10 days or so. At that point the seedling should almost be big enough to come out of the solo cup within 2 weeks with a decent root system.

Something that I had to learn and I’m still learning. That BAS 3.0 is a nutrient rich soil and it takes some seedlings a while to adjust. The 3.0 is built to be a water only product too. Especially the initial run in my opinion.

Sounds normal to me use some recharge it helps with the root production

Honestly thought they should look something closer to this. I’ve seen no real change in the last 3 days. I watered the bag of soil with recharge, if i grabbed a handful and squeezed, i didnt get a drop but my hand felt wet so i figured that was enough. Loaded some soil into the cup, planted seed and covered with a clear solo. And rewatered with recharge again a week later (maybe a shot glass amount). Nothing since.

I water with a spray bottle until it looks wet and then I water again when it looks dry and the cup gets lighter than it was after I watered it!

Going to start another seed in the meantime. Give this one a few more days to see if it recovers. Hopefully i dont kill the next one. Lol. All part of the learning process i guess

I’m having the same problem but different soil. “Black Gold” for seeds. First timer here as well so I find your question interesting. If you find out anything let me know please.

what are your temps and rH?

VPD around 1 kPa can mean 86F at 65% rH or 68F at 45% rH

On/off set points for heater and humudifier are 70-75F and 64-68% RH. I was taking my VPD reading off the AC Infinity controller which was off. Last night i verified temp and rh using another calibrated unit from work (benefit of working in a lab). So i guess my VPD is fluctuating between 0.6 – 0.9

for that early stage I’d raise the temps a bit over a couple of days. they are in the general zone but at the lower end of the zone
