Tent intake flap during flowering

New grower, newbie question. During flowering how do you handle the intake flap on the tent? Does it need to be closed during the dark times, or is it low enough that it doesn’t affect the plants?

I just started week 3 of veg on some white widow and sweet tooth. Going well so far. I’ve been keeping the flap open 100% of the time.

Do you have light nearby? If so, flap closed. If you want passive intake, use some vent tubing and a bug cover. You can bend it around a couple corners to diffuse any light that makes it past the bug cover. Then pinch that down in your vent port and you’re set. If you want active hvac, have a second fan and filter for intake. The carbon filter and fan block the light and you don’t have pressure issues. Bonus alap being more air flow with less noise.

Great ideas. Thanks! Yeah, I have a window nearby that lets a little light in, but the vent is facing the wall so it would be minimal.

I duct taped a prefilter material over my intake and secured it with magnets in an effort to keep pollen from jumping tents.

Sounds like a good idea as well. I went ahead and ran some ducting out of a lower hole and made a few turns with it. I duct taped a filter over the end. It’s working great as an intake so far, and should block all light.

It doesn’t matter for veg. In flower be strict.
