Does anyone know if you can use or recommend using a wetting adjent with recharge? Like yucca or quillaja

  • I’ve used coco wet and yucca as wetting agents with success in the past.

  • Haven’t used those, but I’m a big fan of horticultural aloe as a wetting agent.

  • Either 1 will work fine, yucca is cheaper.

  • Dose is always the most important variable. Surfactants are not typically an issue for microbes unless the concentration was excessive. Yucca is very acidic.

  • Agreed on dosage being important. I use thermx70, 1.2ml per gallon. I dont ph but its said to be 4.5 – 6.0 PH. I use it with foliar sprays to help spread on the leaf surfaces. Hydrophobic media would be a good reason for it. You dont need it more than a few times, your media will only go to a certain water retention.

  • A little goes a long way. I also use Thermex70. I use it everytime i hand water, and a quart has lasted me like over 4 years. Its my ph down in a sense lol, because it is very acid as mystro mentioned. I use a peat based soil, with coco mixed in as well. I find it very helpful in achieving a uniform watering within a pot.
