Wanted to share the status of the grow. The area in the garden for the girls is 8×16. 6 plants and they officially hit 6′ tall. The top of the chain link is about 6’4″ above the weed barrier. I am astonished at the growth. I wasn’t expecting this. Basically there is a solid 8×13 canopy. Since they were poking out anyway I’m going to try and use the chain link like a vertical scrog…lol. in the ground on 6-1 so this is 6 weeks of growth. I can’t seem to get the pics in order on this but there is the same view on 6-1, 6-14, 6-28 and 7-12.

The one question I have……DO I just let them run of get under there and defoliate? If I trim them, how much should I go at it? In western NY I assume I’d be starting to flower in 3-4 weeks?

The tomato plants are giving them a run for their money.

  • Nice looking gardens fellas! Comme il faut, as the French say! How it’s done! great set ups for growing outdoors, i wish i could!

The ladies in my garden are also getting into gear. From now on it’s daily defoliating.

I love it. Some how it’s a bit like meditation!

I nearly crushed a stinkbug on one of the leaves! The furthest are the two Sensi Skunk#1 in my garden. They already start to build up trichs on the fan leaves!

The bulk of work is still waiting for me on the field! Some big bushes of Afghani ladies.

These girls grow very dense, so i have to clear out the lower 3rd of them and some more! The bigger Afghani in my garden yielded a 5gal pot, when i cleared her out.

    • Great looking plants. Where are you located?

  • @Culver-Creek I live in Switzerland.

  • Weekly grow update. White Widow in a pot on the patio. Starting to fill out well, I think. Buffalo bills repping with a blue light for reference.

  • In the garden. All of them are flowering. The Lemon Haze is far out in front. She started to flower first. Had to get inside and start tying things up. I had the scrog netting and didn’t put it up, Big mistake. I thought because they were packed in so tightly in the 8×16 area, that I wouldn’t need it. Boy was I wrong. The Lemon haze is filling up so much the tops are just bending over. I went under the canopy and ran lines all across the area to support all of them.

  • From the Veg side. Pureed 6 gallons of tomatoes and froze them. We will be making sauce and canning it once the season is over. Also pulled the cukes that were there and canned 14 quarts of dill pickles. Next run of pickles will be sweet bread and butter pickles.

  • Weekly update:

Started to give the girls a little snack. Running in ground, extended Growdots and Recharge. Picking up a slight bit of yellowing. (nothing as bad as the potted patio plant). The 3 plants facing the vegetable side of the garden (west facing) are ahead of the east facing. Seems like the girls like the afternoon sun better than the morning. The Maracuya made a big jump of the last week. The Lemon Haze is far out front in bud development. Followed by the west Bruce banner and then the Maracuya and the west Wedding cake. Tick tock…..Just watching for pests, keeping the water flowing and making sure they aren’t hungry. Tops are getting heavy.

  • Some pics of the buds on the Lemon Haze

  • It’s been a while since my last update. It really has been just cruise control and waiting. The girls are all doing very well.

The two smaller plants (Super Lemon Haze and the one Bruce Banner) finished up a few weeks ago. They are dried, trimmed and placed in Grove bags. So far that bags are doing very well. Maintaining about 60-62% humidity. I may have over filled a touch because (in the pic) the two large bags are the Super lemon haze. in the small bag it’s the Bruce Banner. One clear bag is just a mix of small lower branch buds that will be used for tincture. The other clear bag is the trimmings from the sugar leaves. Not counting the trimmings, the scale hit 3 pounds 1/2 ounce. The White widow that was potted on the patio was cut down and hung a week ago. I’m not sure how her total will be adding up, she’s quite a bit smaller than the other outdoor plants.

  • I gotta get me some of those bags!!

    • I am not sure how it will all turn out but there is no way I was going to deal with that many mason jars…lol

  • Well, the white widow on the patio dried up at 14.5 ounces. I lost two buds to bud rot, or I might have hit a pound.

A week and a half ago I cut the branches off the two large Wedding Cake plants that were sticking out through the fence. I was increasingly worried about the dew on them and not getting any sun to dry them off. They were really close to where I wanted them, so I took them off. They scaled at 1#-14 ounces. Current total is 5#-13 ounces.

The garden is all chopped and cleaned up. the remaining 4 plants are down and hung. I thought I’d try to spread out the trimming a bit so the Maracuya and the 2 wedding cakes were wet trimmed. The Bruce banner I left all the fan leaves to take longer on the dry (maybe a couple days or more?). I pulled the largest main colas off the plants because they came home with me to dry in the tent under ideal conditions. The garage where the rest is hanging is sitting at low 60’s and 55-60% humidity. I have a dehumidifier and two large fans running in there. I wonder where the total will hit ot what i’lll do with all of this. Looking like everyone I know is getting a baggie for Christmas…lol.
