Are You Satisfied With Your Current Genetics?

  • Are You Satisfied With Your Current Genetics?

It is rare that I keep a strain for more than 3 runs – always chasing something better I suppose. As many times as I say the stable is set / full, something even more interesting always seems to come my way.

Are you satisfied with the genetics you have?

How long do you keep a strain before moving on?

Are you looking for something better?

What are you looking for that you don’t currently have?

I’m always looking to improve. I recently had a massive upgrade so I think I’m good for the next year or two but I’ve always got my eye on what’s going on.

Have had some cuts for many years at this point…personal favorites that I keep just because… Only have a handful of those…hard to make “the list” haha.

Always on the hunt for new flavors, and different effects. 😁

        Word. Sup @bnr 🍻

My keepers are cuts gifted to me by my best friend, mentor, and 30+ plus year veteran of cannabis growing in VA/CA/OR (Grateful Dead scene) from the 90s through early 2k’s. . .

The SuperBoof, GG#4, Sugar Floss, and Cereal Milk amongst others I’ve posted here are from him. Great bud and sentimental value as well. Plus. If he ever loses it…I still have it. 😁

When you find a true winner, you’ll know. Everything is trash compared. I’ve seen 1 or 2 true unicorns in my life. Most have never seen one. So just pick good enough for you. When hunting, keep the best until you find something better. Pop thousands of seeds and maybe you’ll find something. I’m looking for 1 in a billion. Most would be happy with 1 in a million. Most maybe get 1 out of 1000. Average shit.

Plants that literally check every box. Vigor. Unicorns finish fast, huge, potent and flavorful. A psychedelic high, flavor too amazing to describe, finish in under 7 weeks and yield over a QP off a 4 inch clone with no veg. Large calyx in large clusters with little leaf. No compromises. Not scraggly structured OG or long flowering Sour D. Unicorns are more than just amazing bud. The plant has to be as amazing as the flower it produces. I’ve seen 2 in my life and got both growers busted for being too loud. They had 1 in a billion plants. Pure luck involved in finding them. One was a citrus plant that had no name in the early 90’s and the other was a Hash Plant in the mid 90’s. I had no idea weed like that was possible until I experienced it. I haven’t seen anything close since. After losing the Hash Plant to the DEA in 2004 I specifically remember the day after I ran out. I was in total despair with road rage in traffic wondering if this was going to be my life for now on. HP made life worth living and nothing bothersome. Life has never been the same. If you have no idea what’s possible, you have no idea what you’re actually looking for. I know what’s possible and I know what I’m looking for specifically. Popped more beans last night. The hunt continues…

Not really. I’m hoping one of the plants I have going now but I only backed up the one that had the best structure. I love Permanent Marker and I just started LIT OG#32 x Permanent Marker. I have high hopes for that during my spring run. It’s that Purple Heart from Irie Gentics and the “keeper” clone.

a little yes and a BIG NO.

Modern Generics (misspell intentional) and mislabeled genetics are the reason I started breeding my own a decade ago, going to horticulture college to refine my knowledge, and falling in love with learning/growing ALL plants. Everything now is a cross of the latest popular thing or a Cookies hybrid. Anything x permanent marker can kiss my ass.

Like Mystro said, I’ll keep something until I find something better.

I’m not looking for one thing, but I want everything. I’ve smoked one out of the Blue Ridge Mountains that they called Muscadine Divine that was an existential crisis in a joint. I thought everything I’d ever done to a plant was wrong. I don’t even think I got high the first time I smoked it – it was sobering how good it was. That’s been my benchmark since. Nothing has ever come close.

So far so good. After a ten year hiatus from growing I started back up with some California Dream beans from ILGM that was pretty tasty. Next I did a mini hunt of mimosa evo x orange punch from Barney’s Farm . Popped four fem beans, one was a straight up male but the others were girls. Found one that is dark purple, almost black and the trichomes just pour off of it. It’s my current washer. I’ve also hunted a half dozen of Rasta Jeff’s Orangegasm fem beans and it was really hard to pick a keeper but I did and it’s awesome!!

overall I’ve been very happy with the genetics so far and look forward to trying many more!

I rotate between 4 strains, Bruce Banner, Blue Dream, OG Kush and Purple Punch from ILGM. Reliable genetics, have not had 1 bean not pop and flourish. I always like to grow a daytime and nighttime flavor. Nothing better than a nice OG or purple spliff after a log day of work outside. And the pic below says it all. Find a genetic the wife enjoys and grow the shit out of it. Happy wife happy something or another 😂😂😂

I run an online tissue culture clone store and I am ALWAYS getting new stuff (75% of stuff comes from CLTVTD). Basically a hobby/addiction lol turned into a side business for me and I’m NEVER satisfied lol. I do have my favorites that I have kept for awhile, (literally decades on some strains). The original 1996 Albany Sour D (my all-time fav), Horchata (my second fav), Frozen Dessert, 1994 Albert Walker, Sour Runtz, Cherry Pie, 1998 Blueberry, Skywalker OG, Sundae Driver, Swamp Boys cut of Triangle Kush, Kush Mints, Hardcore OG and a few others have been in rotation since acquired. I’m talking all breeder cuts, not from S1’s. I verify everything myself before putting them out there and I am still always buying new shiz lol. I think I need help lol… ✌

From 2004 to 2019, i outcrossed my thing with local clones every other year, made some mistakes that would be long to describe, but all this did pay off when i was given a female europeen NL plant from seed, so i did it again and Nannerle was born, ya my male was dominant and i have since used Nannnerle to make four other crosses, so now with a hundred or so seeds of these variants are all related and i might do an f2 and so on, but this might be the end of the road for Nanny, i`ve got stock to play with for another 5 years, spouting annualy for clone mothers for outdoor grows, the goal was originaly to bring back the local Frieseland phenotype with better chemotype, i like the feeling Nan gives me, but mainly because she is One of the most vigorous outdoor strains i have ever seen up on the 46th N. parallele, where we have been struggling to find photoperiod stock that works well, we can get a 4 to 6 foot plant that gives a lot more than autos because those ones have to be set late and just the right size to get 4 Oz with less interesting chemotypes…of course the final flowers i harvest are all a little different, but the domminant traits in this stock are realy doing good for me.

Nannerle is like mixed fruit with a berry zesty tarty smell in front of notes of mango and even lighter tones of skunk and citrus, some plant have a touch of gas, others a touch onion at the end of flo.

The first out-cross of that was done around 2020, thanks to Jordan of the Islands Seeds: Blueberry Hawaiian-Lights, that i chose to match with Nannerle, few of those were grown, but they were funky stuff, Even though i take time to chose parents does not make me a breader, im a selector, that is theoreticaly doing random selectiv breading because of the low number of plants grown to select from, but i follow some rules.

That out-cross is called Mozart or Moes Art, and it should-would-could contain many keepers for indoors or out-dough if your below the 45 th lat.N. and-or not too High in north-america.

Moes art is a work of art, but shes gonna give some variations, i have grown 4 females all out in 2021, and then 3 females in 2024, a few males were also grown, the consistency breakdown looks like half the plants are a good mix of both parents with lots of small variations, some of wich display more hybrid vigour(those are big yielders), then there seems to be a fair share of more indica phenos that may have more blueberry flavors as well as an occasional tall indica type(mensioned by DJ Short)…if you get one of those, buds will be harder as well as the effect… The nose found in Moe`s Art is to be disclosed by friendly fruit punch in the face with a nice creamy caramel(not cheesy), that can be topped off by a blueberry or a more tropical fruit mix, the effect observed so far is almost full spectrum, like more calming than numbing but with a clear psychelelic side, that usualy is long lasting. All & All she needs more Poppin done and that will be fun… dam i gotta get high and do something off-line, but thanks for the thread and Safe Trip to ya Alls.
