bad-river-farms-robParticipantAugust 14, 2025 at 7:23 amI just scoped water dripping from one of our dehumidifiers. I did not see and bacteria, dead or alive. I did see minimal debris and a few strands of oomycetes (water mold). Oomycetes are associated with powdery mildew if found in soil, not sure about in water. This observation tells me to not use dehumidifier water. But to each their own.

I don’t suggests using on cannabis for this reason. But if you clean the dehumidifier regularly, the bacteria wouldn’t be an issue. Add a little beneficial microbes to it and it’s safe for house plants or outside plants.

I didn’t see any bacteria. Oomycetes are more of a fungus and are associated with powdery mildew. We get tested very stringently in South Dakota so we take all the steps we can to pass testing. I would also feel fine using it on houseplants or an outdoor garden. But I did see water mold so we put it to waste water in the facility.

I use my dehumidifier water, but every few days or whenever I dump the bucket from my dehumidifier into the reservoir, I run my floating UVC sterilizer to kill off any pathogens in the water.
