Donutz dilemma

I have 6 Donutz and 6 Blueberry Muffins I was going to put into flower on Sunday when I pull down my dry. I just learned about all the herm issues and don’t have any thing as mature as the muffins. What would you do? I”ll pull clones of everything 1st but I’m nervous the donutz will ruin the crop.

If you have rooted clones take one of each of Donutz and send them to flower a week or 2 before the flip. It might be a good way to catch any potential herms before it desimates your grow. Either way if you move forward be vigilant.

That would have been a great idea, I wish I pulled them last weekend.

Grow it out like normal. Herms are still very rare here. They happened and they didn’t handle the issue right and it blew up in their faces.

If you’re still concerned, do you have separate tents or can you separate them out.

I’m not sure why you would take clones if you are concerned about the herm issue…

I take clones of everything before flower. If I found a stable one I’d keep it but pretty low risk and low effort regardless

That’s right. The ABCs. Always be cloning.

I’m running the Triploid donuts and haven’t isolated since only one tent but haven’t had any issues with them harming my other two plants.

it did Herm on the lower legs of the branches but I took them off and going to let them grow.

week 5 of flower right now.

I have one Donuts Triploid and one Hella Jelly vegged, topped once, and ready to go into a 4×2 within the next week to 10 days after I harvest my Notorious THC and Holy Kush. I believe the Donuts strain itself has the small hermming/intersex traits issues and perhaps making that strain into a Triploid strain may have not been the best choice. A much more developed strain may have avoided this issue-or maybe not. Blueberry Muffin or their PPD may have been better choices. I really don’t know. Donutz Triploid has blown me away as a plant so far to be honest. In Veg it’s shown a very vigorous growth pattern. I have lots of supplemental lighting and am adding underlighting in my test tent as I have noticed with my plant that she really doesn’t like low levels of light. She’s greedy and I think she wants a higher DLI. I’m just arrogant enough to think I can pull off growing her indoors without any game-changing issues for me. A single bud with nanners won’t bother me at all. Seeds? Seen it before, will see it again. I popped one seed and it germinated with zero issues. Been a joy to grow so far. Gets transferred from her 3 gallon pot to a 7 gallon soon. I have OG Kush Triploid seed and Orange Creampop seeds for my next runs following the Donuts Triploid and Hella Jelly this run. I truly believe that HSC changed the Donuts Triploid web page to recommended for outdoor only because of how stretchy/leggy she can get with long internodal spacing that wouldn’t yield well in an indoor environment with limited canopy height. I still personally feel very comfortable growing one single Donuts Triploid next to one single Hella Jelly in a small test environment. You have to decide the risk/benefit ratio for yourself.

Thank you so much for posting about the 5 week stretch, it will help those who follow behind like myself. Really really appreciate it, you helped my next run for certain!

Just go for and and watch carefully. I’ve heard some people had no problems, hope you get them all stars. If you grow them please update here. I’m super interested in them.

I think this is where I landed too. I’m thinking I’m going to run 2 more than I usually do and just pull’em if they turn. I just moved them to the flower room today. I’m doing a top/clone &defoliate tonight and will flip as soon as they’re ready. I’m running blueberry muffins, donutz by Humboldt and Grandpa’s stash.

Is the pollen live? Or do triploid nanners shoot blanks and it tastes nasty to smoke nanners.

I’m not sure to be honest. My biggest concern is that I am running 3 strains and I didn’t want them to pollinate the others.

Are the reports of hermed triploids actual male pollen sacs at week 3 like a true herm? Or are they “nanners” in mid flower?

I thought they don’t make viable pollen. Sucks the reports are coming about herms, but I don’t remember Humboldt claiming they are herm free, just sterile….among the other claimed traits.

If you stress out the plant it may choose to herm for preservation. My understanding was Humboldt was releasing these triploids for growers who have maximum control over their environment, space for their size, and the knowledge to keep up with their nutrition, co2 and light needs. Which is apparently more. I passed because I’m a newbie in a grow tent.

I’ve found herm to be mostly due to poor genetics than anything else. Some pretty well respected growers have had issues with it. I’m no master gardener or anything but my environment is solid but something goes wrong in every grow.

when I bought them there was no word about big stretch or experienced growers.

True herm week 3 intersex traits (flowers and pollen sacs) are genetic. “Nanners” later in flower more likely environmental

Home grow TV has an episode Truth about triploiods with Nat from Humboldt. I think that’s where I heard it. A new grower asked about triploids and he said go for it, but they are heavy feeders. And if it goes sideways you may get innersexed flowers that don’t make seeds. Then he points them to the Blueberry Muffin if you want an easy photo.

I have mine in the flower tent now getting acclimated to the higher light intensity. One Donuts Triploid next to 1 Hella Jelly in a 2 x 4. Still on 18 hours light cycle but that starts to get cut slowly over the next 2 weeks. Vegging the Hella Jelly a bit taller so I’ll have to cut clones and cut back the Donuts Triploid.

Appreciate the feedback back, glad it worked out ok. I just topped the blueberry muffins and let them veg a little longer. Got a pretty full canopy now. I would love to know how the Donutz turned out after cure if you think about it. I’m going to throw them all outside and run a single clone in my next few runs to see if I get a stable one.
