Easy Potting
Posted by turnster on April 1, 2025 at 9:26 amThe Turnster Method. This must of been done before!! I place the solo cup in the final plant bag. Sow the seed directly in to the solo cup, when it’s ready to be potted on just take away the solo cup!!
Feedback and thoughts? Thanks

I’ve considered something similar. What problem are you trying to solve?
-
Hiya, I’m not really trying to solve a problem per say, just keeping it all in a neat and tidy place. Solo cups fall over and so on.

i like this, so your cocco is pre buffered? you will still have to pre fertilize / wet the cocco till run off before transplant? 24HRs?
-
Hiya, Yes, I will pre soak the coco when it’s time to pot on.

I turn the solo cup upside down and ease the seedling out. Then I transplant to the next pot size or final size. I drop, knock over and generally subject them to copious amounts of abuse. If they survive I give them my respect and allow them to continue living.
But seriously, we are such clueless gardeners that we have debate the “proper way” to transplant from solo cup? I watched my mother do that way back in the late 50’s and took notes.
Give them some Recharge when watering and they’ll be just fine has been my experience. Transplanting is an afterthought for me and very entertaining to watch and listen for F bombs. Last plant I upped from 3 to 5 I was on a roll until I knocked the whole plant over and half the soil fell out. I swept up the soil and put it back in the pot and that thing had a gnarly root system until chop day.
Just call me the casual gardener who doesn’t take the details seriously.

Sir, I’ve been watching your posts. I invite you to consider that your grow style is yours and that others want to merely achieve “better” (to them) quality using other methods. While your methods work for you, there’s a lot of people interested in considering the other methods for producing weed that is better than yours. I assume you’re intelligent enough to discern the difference, and your constant vibe is dragging some people down. Live and let grow, man!
P.S. I’m very sorry to read about what you are going through, and my positive thoughts are for you.

If I ask a grow question my grow style is soil, worm castings, top dressing fertilizer and working with finicky RO well water. If someone who grows in another medium that doesn’t apply to my grow style I understand. One example was a discussion about PH and feeding. I have literally had synthetics growers tell me to flush the nutrients out of the soil and check the runoff which is a synthetics thing.
Another responder tried to convince me that my aquifer is contaminated and I can’t use my water. I could go on and about conflicting posts her and elsewhere but my point is that it’s very confusing when that happens for someone with no reference point.
Another example. I mention that I use Coast of Maine soil and dry fertilizer and ask if anyone has experience refreshing their used soil. I don’t have room to mix my soil and use it right out of the 1.5 cf bag. Their soil costs $40 per bag and no way I can afford more things to add to it. I use it out of the bag or refreshed out of a tote and don’t want to make more work and expense than necessary. I have good success that way grow after grow.
Anyways, this probably isn’t the best place to get answers. I got dialed out in the beginning following wrong advice and sorting through conflicting suggestions.
Thanks for the words of encouragement. My lymphoma attacks the skin and I’ve been dealing with a painful wound on my hip for over a month. Aside from that my numbers look good but my hip feels like it’s being held over a hot stove 24/7. I have been a handful to be around with this last few days. I had one lesion on my ankle the size of a golf ball that chemo shrunk and a cluster on my hip. The biggest one ulcerated when chemo shrunk the lesion and jeans seams raised hell with it. I can’t go out in public much due to low immunity from treatments and have to get three more biopsies next week. So yeah, I admit to getting into a shitty mood when I can’t get corrected, consistent answers.
