In 2 months or so I will be relocating my 10×10 to my house, it’s currently set up 20 miles away at a relatives. My wife and kids want to grow a few things in a 5×5 portion. That’s the deal I made to get it here. Lol. I know there will be strawberries and a dwarf tomato plant. What are some other good options that are kid friendly and won’t take up a lot of space?

I’ve done cucumbers in the corners of the tent and let them climb up the poles. They produced more than we could eat and took up minimal space

For kids: strawberries will be solid with the runners too.

Tomatoes: check out Tiny Tim or similar dwarf.

I’ve done bush beans, pole beans and peas got out of hand.

My kids enjoy the ornamentals too: Teddy Bear sunflower stays nice and small.

Under the strawberries, you could also plant gladiola bulbs. Those grow straight up with minor spread.

Radishes are quick so you could get continual harvest and replanting… Always nice to harvest with kids.

I did an ornamental hot pepper plant. They grow compact like a bush and the peppers look like multicolored Christmas lights.

    Chives in a container.

We have some prairie grass near our house, so we grew orange butterfly milkweed and transplanted them to help the butterflies.
