When growing cannabis for seeds, what kind of nutrient adjustments would be made thats different than growing for sensimilla? do I need any adjustments for growing high quality seed? thx.

Nutritional needs don’t change. All the essential elements are required for plant growth. One element you don’t want deficient during seed production is sulfate. Sulfate is one essential element that needs to be readily available during the formation of secondary metabolites like trichomes and seeds.

I was watching the grow from your heart podcast with Rasta Jeff. A great resource for seed farming. When he grows for seeds he will separate the plant from the other flowering plants and give it 18/6 the rest of its life after pollination. This way the plant gets plenty of energy for seed production.

Personally I grew for seeds once and I didn’t do what he said because I never watched his podcast yet. My seeds were all mini seeds and non viable. I wish I would’ve done more research before I tried seed farming. Oh well it was two plants and because they had 12/12 light the smoke was decent with well formed structure so it was no different

I’ve forgotten a lot over the last 30 years about making seeds. One thing that stands out to m3 still. I’d separate my males early. Collect their pollen in an envelope. I’d then just seed a section of a female plant. I felt seed production was one of the most stressful things for a plant. It’s easy to over seed them and actually kill the mom. By partially seeding a med size plant it limited the stress and I got really nice mature seeds. This worked for me then. Idk how it translates to today’s world. I know it takes a ton of space I don’t have to do 😆

@jmystro Is correct, you don’t need to change out your nutrient for creating seeds. Plus sulfur is very important in development of the plant and seeds. The only thing I would suggest is just start cutting your Nitrogen back a lot at day 40, and by day 45 just remove it all together and just feed the seeded plants with Phosphorus and Potassium. This will help the seeds finish properly and mature before harvest. You will have less green and white seeds that don’t fully develop. Hopefully this helps. Stay safe and lifted 🤙💚!
