High Performance Garden?

As a newer grower, it is hard to know if we are bringing our genetics to their optimal potential. First grow, I got about 4oz out of a 4×4 and was extremely happy, because I grew good medicine and it was 4oz! A few years later….yikes. Not growing for yield, but want to have some measurements to know if I’m even in the ballpark. I know I need more experience, and that’s about all I know at this point. When I first started, g’s per watt was the discussion. Or g’s per sqft. I love math, and I’m guessing there is a formula, or could be, that if we took the genetics, how big our pot is, and time vegged, we could figure out a good yardstick for newer growers so they can have a better understanding of how well they did. A good example for me of this is how bad I was at watering when I first started, over and under. Now my waterings are more automated with blumat carrots, and only now do I realize how much I left on the table back then. Again, not growing strictly for yield, but us indoor guys need to maximize our output, especially in this economy. Thanks DGC! Growers Love!

Pop seeds until you find something you really like. That’s subjective. You will never provide perfect conditions for a seedling you know nothing about. Don’t ever expect a plant to reach peak performance when guessing. Learn to clone the keeper plant you find. Running clones over multiple cycles is the only way to collect any viable data to judge your progress over time as a grower. Seeds are lottery tickets. People do win the lottery but expecting to win the lottery with every seed is setting yourself up for disappointment.

Great answer I was hoping you would respond. Thank you J! Every question I ask, it just makes me realize how little I know and understand. I guess I’m in the right place.

The more you know, the more you know how little you know.
