Imagine nitrogen fixing cannabis strains via corn genes.

  • Oaxaca maise has aerial roots that produce a slime to house nitrogen fixing bacteria. The slime drips onto the soil producing 80% of the plants nitrogen. They are already crossing it with American corn. Many food crops could use this and it’s a matter of time before cannabis as well?

  • This is super interesting. I wonder how much harder this would be to get into a different species compared to another corn variety.

    • I would think something like crisper (not sure what the acronym is) would be able to do this.

      • I suppose so. Now I’m wondering what side effects their could be. I read that using gene editing to make PM resistant plants would also block mycorrhizal funghi relationships too. Fun to think about.
