I know this has been discussed and there are lots of opinions, but I am still looking for a mostly bulletproof way to decarb and preferably without the smell. I’ve done the oven thing. LEVO is terribly inconsistent, and sous vide had issue with temps and keeping weed submerged.

Ongrok has a table top decarb machine.
otherwise, I’ve always done 240 in the oven for approximately 40-50 minutes. I can usually tell it’s done when I get a super nutty smell on the air.

I love my air fryer. Portable so outside it goes. Great temp control.

Oooooohhhhh…. I am liking that idea. Do you put your weed on parchment in the basket? Do you stir it at all?

I use a convection toaster oven. Not what you asked for but it works well. However it does smell up the place when done.

I just put it in a jar, seal lightly, stuck in the 240-250 degree oven for 50-60 minutes. Let it cool.

I use a Mason jar turning the rubber side of the lid around so it doesn’t seal or melt to jar.
With green and glove, I turn jar ever 15 minutes.
With wax, parachute paper, 200*
20 to 30 minutes watching for bubbling.
Always doing slow 3 to 6 hour slow simmer in coconut oil after mixing decarbbed substance. Insuring all is absorbed into oil or butter. I use the Mason jar in airfryer for this step also

I decarb in a mason/ball jar. Zero odor. Put in the flower whole or ground, seal the jar, goes into the oven 220*F for 2 hours, take it out and let it cool. Done. Note that if the goal is to infuse an oil you MUST decarb BEFORE you add the flower into the oil. I’ve found much lower potency if you put uncooked weed just straight into oil and try to do an all in one decarb and infusion.
Once decarbed, I just pour in the oil to the flower level, re-seal, and back into the oven for another 2 hours. Let it cool and pour through a mesh coffee filter or cheesecloth to strain.

Do you shake/agitate your jars while in the oven? How much weed per jar? Thinking an ounce or so per quart?

If I’m decarbing for infusion, I’ll rough grind (I blast in a personal smoothie maker, shaking it hard, for about 3-5 seconds) and typically run 3-5 ozs of flower in a half-gallon wide mouth jar.
Honestly I’ve found zero effective difference during the bake between agitating it and leaving it sit. That glass jar’s going to radiate heat inside pretty evenly. But if you want to mix it, just a little roll back and forth every 30 mins is all it needs.

Perfect. I have a bunch of 2 quart wide mouths that got replaced by Grove bags. The jars needed a new purpose in life. 😁

I honestly did similar but for much lower time. My toaster oven does 25F increments so I went 225 at 25 minutes. I just did parchment paper and tinfoil. Smells like mad but only while you’re cooking. Good to know I can use the jars I got as a decarb device as well and it will cut out the smell.
I sometimes decarb to smoke if I want a really different effect from it. When you’re used to fresh and you decarb a little puck to smoke while mixing some kief in and the kief disappears into the puck material. Bye Bye time for a nap from this stuff.
Then you go back to your fresh stuff after that puck and you’re like Whoa! This hits good again! Just like the decarbed stuff did a day or so before.

Just picked up an oz of this great tasting sauce. So nervous about decarbing but I figure to keep in small working batches to help me daily in the dosages better. I really like an array of strains and high doses. Hoping the guys will split my order up. He has 6 kinds of live resin. I got to see if he would split it up.

Honestly… I’ve bought flower, hash and shatter. Mixed them all in the grinder. Put them all in the small tube hash press I got and press them together.
Then they go through the decarb and I figure the Shatter is going to melt and mix with the hash and the hash is going to melt and mix with the flower. I end up with a really nice puck afterwards. The resulting puck never fails to couch and give a potent high. If it ends up with laughable stuff… Oh Jeeze my Mom used to be like stop laughing… Why are you laughing? this isn’t funny. Me: What are you talking about? *laughs* I don’t find anything funny. *laughs*

If you watch closely, you can see the tiny gas bubbles

3 hours in and it’s still giving off gad.
Once bubbles stop the decarb is done. Can be vaped, mix into edibles or just to top your bowl with a snow cap.
