I am running an experiment to see if a dry fragment of mosquito dunk in a straw ( closed on one end but with pin holes) inserted into soil will keep fungus gnats away, or will I have to put water into the straw to activate it later if they come.

It’s a small container, about 24 oz of soil, sealed with a drainage/ self-watering , wicking, bottom. The perfect setup for fungus gnats. Happy Frog Soil, Bubblegum Autoflower from Seed Supreme. I am not really concerned about the smoke and think this will suffer from some other fate before harvest, but I am part Dr. FRANKENSTEIN and part Sorcerer’s Apprentice. It’s for science and the kids.

They make a granulated version of the pucks. Top dress it and say good bye to those rat bastards. I’ve gone so far as mixing it into bags of compost and will even sprinkle some into my worm bin from time to time, as well as my harvested castings. Super easy, pretty cheap.

    They work great!

I keep one in a piece of mesh zip tied up to keep it from breaking apart in the water. I have it floating around inside my 5 gallon bucket and have not had fungus gnats in months. Change it about every 45 days and your gtg.
