I topped when I started but haven’t for a few years. I just bend the stems the direction I want them. Not super crop bend, I just push them and tie them to the side of the pot. No shock or wait from being topped. Just consistent growth and lots and lots of tops.

The best part with these plants is that even if I bust a limb almost all the way off I can tape her back and she’ll repair it herself.

Depending on how long your outdoor grow season is, I’ve always wanted to to bend and see how far out they’ll reach. Would love to make a maze or spiral walkway.
