Topping Autos

I only have time/space for a few plants at any given time. Autos seem to fit my schedule best and I’ve been looking for ways to increase yield with my constraints. This Grease Monkey auto is my second foray into topping with an auto. The first I tried it with is a GG4 and that one seems to be doing great.

I know there is a divided opinion about whether to top or not top. I think time will tell. In my limited experience though, the GG4 didn’t take a big hit for recovery and that’s one for the win column. But, see for yourselves.

What do y’all think about this?

Accidently Broke my baby girl main tem trying to put a bud trainer clip on at day 22. We cried but let it ride out now at day 50 I think she’s the queen the tent now killing it. I think we have a small wondow to hit for autos doing that stuff and I might have just got lucky.

Some like to Top Autos but I don’t. I just bend them down with training clips and this spreads the light among all the branches.

Increase yield with unknown seedlings? Not going to happen. You get what you get from a seed. Nature mainly makes losers. Gotta hunt through photoperiods to find vigorous and potent yielders.

The trick to topping autos is you open up the top leaves until you can get just the smallest bud no bigger than a popcorn kernel and remove that. It will top it with almost no recovery time and get bushier with a bigger yield.

To be honest if you have good genetics you can do about anything to them that you can with a photo. The key is doing everything in the right timing. In my earlier instagram days I proved on there they can taking a beating by pulling the plant completely out by the roots day 18 letting it lay on top of the pot roots exposed for two days. Replanted it and let it go. Still scored 4 ounces from it. It was a GSC from mnsl seeds. I top them a lot. Manifold them sometimes. Almost every auto I grow gets super cropped. Just stick with good genetics and do things at the right time. Hope that helps. Have any questions let me know. I grow a lot of them about 50/50 autos to photos.

beenthere is right though best way to top is just flick the tiny little new top off with your finger and it won’t slow it down a bit.

Couple days later, coverage already is looking better than my last grow. Also, @scottyreal , gave the girls their first Recharge mix yesterday. I’m picking up what you’re putting down here.

I love it when I see the little green bits push out in every cup that was started.

I always top unless they aren't doing well. Usually won't top after day 21 so if they are big and vigorous top them prior to 21 days. I just ran a banana bread by laughing hyena autos and got like 10.5 oz dry
