Has anyone tried using a Mason Jar Vacuum Sealer for their dried herb?

I picked one up off Amazon and just tried it out. Perfectly vacuum sealed jars !! This is going to be a game changer for longer storage.

  • I did many years ago and thought the same thing. Apparently my buds were just a little too moist, and when I opened my jar there was mold in the buds… I’d be extra careful about how dry your nuggs are if your going to store for long term.

  • I use one, but a word of caution – make sure you are FULLY cured before going into the vacuum.

  • Hell yea,I have been doing it for years. That’s why I’m smoking realities fresh bud now. Great tip for everyone.

  • I do this too, I make sure that cure is complete, add a Boveda, and seal it up. Popped a two year old yesterday, fresh as the day it jarred.

    • YES!! This is what Im going for. I’ll be sure to have the buds completely dried.

  • I’ve been using one for a couple years now and love it for long term storage and/or the jars I won’t be needing to open for a couple weeks with a boost pack. Don’t use one with a boost pack that gets opened regular… the cycling kills them.

Also handy when traveling and odor is a concern.

  • Cold storage is best but be mindful of condensation when pulling containers out of the fridge. Let the container get to room temp before opening it or condensation will accumulate on the inside of the container and on the flower itself. Never pull out a jar from the fridge, open it, grab a bud and then seal it back right away. That will trap moisture inside and ruin the flower.

    • ok, thanks, another good consideration. !

Im currently keeping them in a dry cool dark space. I will put a couple into my seed fridge (of all sorts of vegetable , herb, ornamentals, canna) and observe if theres a difference in storage quality.

Generally, I empty one jar at a time into the current use container. so opening and closing is not a concern coming from the fridge.

      best,

      • You can keep flower fresh for well over a year at 38-40F. Maybe 4-6 months at 60F. Temperature makes a huge difference.

  • For those who grow their own seeds, another idea is to use this device for your seed storage jars. I imagine this would help with long term storage of seeds.
