scottyrealParticipantAugust 12, 2025 at 11:01 pmWhat if you could design the perfect strain? Your terp profile, crazy vigor, huge yields, fast flower, mold and bug resistant (has the BT gene)… What if they made your perfect strain with CRISPR GMO tech in a lab? Would you do it?
I’ve seen a couple articles recently that scare the shit out of me! I’m not anti technology, but is there anything good that can come from this? Right on time for Schedule 3 ;)

USDA Approves Genetically Modified Hemp That Produces No THC Or CBD - Marijuana Moment
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) says a genetically modified version of hemp produced by researchers in Wisconsin “may be safely grown and bred in the United States” and is “unlikely to pose an increased plant pest risk compared to … Continue reading

i dont know enough about the crisper, however i wsh you would sell your new larger 10 gallon resiviour for your Real bucket system by its self. I have 3- 4 bucket systems and would like to upgrade to 3 of your 10 gallon resiviours, can you sell them to me Scotty?

As you wish… We do sell them, it’s just taken us a minute to get everything on the website. I will say they cost a fortune to ship! https://realgrowers.com/product/real-buckets-10-gallon-reservoir-and-controller-add-on-kit/

My opinion is that they knew what they were doing in 2018 when that farm bill was passed. I think this is something some law enforcement officer’s are pushing for because they are stuck in the past. If they want to use it for industrial hemp to make hempcrete or other hemp derived products. But as far as the thca and stuff are involved and there’s a profit to be made, I think it’s safe. If they attempt this, they will see a drop in profit and they can’t have that.

I would make an OG kush that grows like blue dream lol

You’re still growing from seed right? All we doing here is editing the genes (make some available that weren’t, and hide some that were) and then growing that plant out.
So really, just like our other crops it’s half and half – we ain’t creating the plant in a test tube (literally) and nature is doing its thing we just told her which thing to do.
Meows doesn’t approve, let’s not try perfect things to that level. He likes the mistakes and chance in his world and prefers to keep them in opposition to the perfection.

My friend gave me some seeds he crossed…g.g.p and g.g.4… it’s a beautiful plant….strong genetics…

Im all for science and CRISPR being used for gene editing and splicing, but its all gotta be done with time and a ton of oversight. Im thinking about fruits and veggies that can be grown to super sizes to feed the hungry all over the world. However I think a perfect strain is impossible just because I want different highs for different times. I work from home and enjoy being able to stay focused and uplifted like Cali Octane by HSC gets me. But if im playing video games or watching a movie or just wanna get comatose i want something like Bubba Whip by twenty20 gets me. Im cool with growing gene edited weed in like 10 or 15 years when the long term testings been done. Some movie type Willy Wonka everlasting gobstopper weed would be awesome though…. a blunt that starts blueberry but goes through a bunch of terp profiles and ends straight pine with 1 strain would be amazing 👍🏽😂

Love the everlasting gobstopper weed and the multi terp blunt! Best ideas yet!

Honestly, the idea of GMO cannabis — whether it’s tweaking terps or making “weed trees” — is a slippery slope I’m not touching.
Cannabis is already one of the most diverse plants on Earth thanks to centuries of natural breeding and preservation by small growers. CRISPR and corporate patents could wipe that biodiversity out in a decade. Once companies own the genetics, you won’t be able to grow without paying for their licensed seeds or clones — and forget about saving your own genetics.
We’ve seen this movie before with corn, soy, and cotton: monoculture, pesticide resistance, loss of landrace varieties, and corporate control from seed to sale. Now they want to do it to cannabis right as it’s being rescheduled? Sounds less like “innovation” and more like setting the stage for Big Ag to own the whole plant
I’m all for progress, but cannabis doesn’t need a lab to be great. It needs protection from exactly this kind of takeover.

I would rather try and fail and then learn from my mistakes and figure out what can be done and changed, potentially to mimic nature more. And then try again. When we start messing with the GMO strains that are truly modified at the genetic level rather then cross bred. We are altering nature and shouldn’t be doing that.
