• With the arrival and set up of the new 4×4, I decided to turn the 2×2 into a propagation chamber. I tried cloning before with no success, but want to get up to speed for when these two Strawberry Cough I just topped get a bit bigger, so I can play Johnny Appleseed with a few.

three in coco and worm castings with a sprinkle of Recharge and Dots on top. I used Foop cloning gel and took them from suitable sites… I think. One I dropped into straight perlite with the same dressing. Will it work? What’s the best temp and humidity to keep them at and when should I moisten them or check for roots… I’m a seed guy and this is more scary than it should be.

      • I like coco better, perlite doesn’t hold enough moisture, those coco coins are good. Its that air moisture ratio, damp, not wet. Low, low lighr, like real low or they try and grow and die, 80%. 75 F. Did I mention light? LEDs we typically use are too bright, i used to use burned out florescence lights and now a 10watt bar 24 inches away. Even a sprinkle of coco in the perlite to hold a bit of moist, now that ground perlite is useless, no air space

        • @moistcube I have a 16 watt Feit bulb I use for seedlings that allows me to switch between spectrums that has been a godsend for seed so I have it in propagate mode and about 15” away. Any PPFD recommendations? Guessing I will have to stay on top of the perlite experiment moisture wise, huh? I’m good RH-wise after I bump it up a tad I see and have it all sitting on a seed mat.

        • @moistcube oh yeah man Pro69 😁. 15 PFID. They dont need the energy till week two, just yellow and die. Day 7 is that day in my experience, and rooting is strain dependent, i have some zkittles based stiff that doesn’t root, stays green even with no roots. We pretend and a week later they root or die. My favorite are the 7 day rooters .. I used to do rooting tanks with 1:1 vermiculite and perlite, all chunky, course. Use them over and over, moisture perfect. It was one line, Cough, SOG. That was a good run.. ive moved to rockwool or the coco coins, easier to Take a couple of cuttings and pop them into a mini dome and into the prop tent

        • I wholeheartedly agree with @moistcube. One thing is the temp can go up to 80 if you have the humidity at 80 as well. Mine seem to root quicker a few degrees warmer.

If you use Clonex gel, it will help speed up the rooting.

          • In almost the same situation here. I decided to go the aero cloner route and built one out of a 2 gal home depot bucket, 1/2″ pvc, an ac infinity 230 gph pump and 6 spray emitter getting 2 more emitters to even out the spray. This has been running with a little bit of clonex and distilled tap water for ten days now and the cuttings haven’t died yet. Haven’t seen roots forming, but the green is hopeful! We’ll see in a few weeks if I did ok
