I am a disabled grower. Back surgery, transplants, amputations, and a slew of other complications. I am 66 on SSI. Was a member of NORMAL in the 70’s until I joined the army. I am a veteran and depend on the VA for my medical needs.
I shifted in 2018 from growing in outdoor gorilla grows to an indoor setup. I could no longer hike to my grows with water, nutes, etc. Yes I am in a red state…bummer.
I use a mechanics stool to work on my girls. I am limited to 10gal pots, and an Earthbox, that is about 10gal also. Yes I am an organic grower…sorry.
I grow in what I deem a super soil. I think to have a legitimate living soil you need at least 30gals. I may be wrong, but in any case 10 gals are about my weight limit so far as lifting. I also use a blumat watering system with a 5 gal res.
I reamend and reuse my soil for about 5 cycles then start fresh with Build a Soil 3.0. The used media goes into my outdoor raised bed. I grow the usual tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, carrots, basil, cilantro, onions and garlic. I also planted ramps. All this in a 4×6 bed.
Being disabled doesn’t stop me from growing, but it does limit some aspects of my grow. No more 3 pound outdoor yields, but the quality of my harvbest has greatly improved.
Even though I am disabled I can still produce high quality cannabis. Love will find a way and I love my medicine.

I also grow in an Earthbox…check out Jeremy Sylva at Build a Soil

I use a blumatt gravity fed watering system when I go auto. I also grow in living soil top dressing dry amendments. I have a 5gal bucket as a reservoir. In heavy flower two plants use about 2gal a day. Build a soil actually sells pre set blumats for living soil that work with gravity or a pump and pressur system.

MemberJanuary 4, 2025 at 11:12 am in reply to: Repotting vs Using A Bigger Media ContainerDepends on what ur growing. If ur growing photos upoting works great. Sprinkling those roots with some micorrizae at transplant and a bath of recharge….Bam, ur off.
I start my photos in a specific size pot , (about a quart) as this pot fits my humidity dome perfectly. Afer around the 5th node in the 20 gal they go. Pot size is also according to veg time. I can carry a healthy plant for 12 weeks in a 20 with minimal effort…Yes I’m lazy.
Keep in mind Veg time can also depend on many factors: Strain, Grow tecniques, Plant Size you want, recovery Time from training, or from mistakes LOL.
If ur growing autos, I would be careful. I start ’em in their final homes. I grow in living soil so autos get 10 gals. It is said that an auto’s tap root can trigger flower if it bottoms out. IDK, but I don’t take the chance.
If ur late on transplant u may end up with a stunted plant that triggered too early. I do sometimes transplant autos, but the timing of anything with autos is extremely important. Success or failure is only a short time away.
If this is your first grow I would hold off on the autos untill you get your environment and technique dialed in. Photos are more forgiving…Autos are not.

I direct sow my seeds so transplanting is out. I used to do the whole solo, 1 gal, 5 gal, but I found it to be unnecessary. If your seedlings are leggy you need more light.

MemberDecember 21, 2024 at 11:29 am in reply to: Seedling help please! GH products and Coco coirThere is no need for the rockwool. I soak my seed for 24 hrs in a shot glass just to soften the hull. Then I plant my seed in me medis with a humidity dome. The domw is the top cut off a two liter clear bottle with 2 or 3 1/6 inch holes in the bottom/now top. I look at the condensation in the bottle. If it starts to dwindle I water around the base of the bottle never removing the dome. Once I see some true leaves the dome comes of. I water in concentric circles ever expanding outward to promote root growth. I use aloe harvested from a mature aloe plant in my water. After the third node a little recharge works wonders.

I don’t top my autos. If that’s a photo I usually top at the fourth node. Check out Bill Wards latest video on YouTube. He’s a training guru LOL

MemberDecember 21, 2024 at 11:07 am in reply to: Morphology: Phenotypic Expression vs Structure, and a show suggestionPhenotypic Expression is the traits that are passed down from the parent plants. These are traits that are observable. For instance, My more indica leaning phenotypes are generally more squat with denser buds. My more sativa strains are generally more lanky and airy. This is because of phenotype.
Branching, Terpenes, Potency, Flowering time, etc. This depends highly on the genetics. Once you grow a plant then this is a cultivare. You have influenced the plants growth by how you grew it. In other words; You have cultivated this individual plant.
This simply means that this plant was influenced by human care, and practices. The only way to find that plant that meets your needs is to grow different strains. I personnally like the gas. If you grow from seed as I do; Each plant is unique, but still carry the general traits of it’s parents.
If you grow from clones you already know what ends up in the end. If you find that “unicorn” clone away. I just like to be suprised by my final product.
It is imperative to start with strong genetics from a reputable source. I don’t want to grow weak plants. After all we invest a lot of time and $$$ in our grows. My worst grow was great! I grow autos so my worst grow produced 3o’s of good bud.
Hope this was helpful…Happy growing.

My tent is in my bedroom, and vents into it. I sleep in there with my door closed my CO2 goes up to 6 or 7 hun dred overnight. My inline fan runs on level one continually and goes up to level 3 when paremeters are reached. CO2 is the last thing on my mind. I focus on temps and hunidity. During veg I go 82degrees at 60%. During flower I go 75 degrees at 50%.

I see mostly cloudy. If you want a more sudative effect it needs a little more amber. Don’t be misled by the tricombes on the leaves. Make sure you’re examining the actual bud surface (caylx). If you want a more energetic and creative effect go for cloudy with very little amber. If your girl is hitting the side of your tent or bumping other buds this could also cause them to turn amber. I take a sample from the top and midways of a cola that is not banging aroundand scope that.

There are manyways to adjust your watering schedule; Smaller pot, less water at each watering, higher temps, air circulation, more aireation, Blumats, etc. You should adjust your watering practices to match your grow style. I’ve used everything from coco, to super soils, sippers, sub irrigation. I have settled on organic living soil in a sub irrigated planter, (Earth Box).
Just try a gallon instead of 1.5. I think I rarely fed more than a gallon a day. Rain Science bags are designed to hold more water in the top of your soil because of the liner.

I look forward to harvest and bringing out the beauty of my finished product. I actually enjoy trimming.

Don’t know never used them. I think as long as they have a comparable serface area, and are as pourous they should work. Let the comunity know how long and how well it lasts. I am running an AC Infinity 6″ refillable can filter myself. I wondered how long it would be before I had to change the charcoal that was provided with the filter.

You may need a full spectrum light. Where do they get their nutes? They look like they streched awful hard. I haven’t had any plants that were so tall, but that could be a good thing. Spider mites…how did u get rid of them? I wouldn’t take clones from a spider mite mom unless they were COMPLETELY eradicated.
