In general I don’t grow mother plants, just take cuttings before flowering, but as you want a mother plant to grow slow, I would use soil and top dress it with seaweed meal every 10 days, you want to find that balance between keeping the plant healthy and keeping it growing as slow as possible, low amount of light( 10,000 lux) for about 15 hours a day should do the trick.
You have a classic strong indica plant, looks good, should result in some very dense bud, but it has its own set of problems, don’t grow very large in general(need longer in veg), the canopy is very thick, so I would thin the canopy out to improve air flow and pull the sides down to make the canopy as wide as possible, in general they like the humidity, temperature and light intensity on the lower side.
