I sometimes use DE on the topsoil to ward off pests, but I never have applied it directly to the leaves or stem. It also adds silica so it’s beneficial when used correctly.

I live in one of those stone age states that still hasn’t legalized cannabis, I tried to order seeds and the only ones they would send me were only ‘novelty seeds’, so of course, I threw those right in the trash 😕 They charged me full price! 🤑

I have had mixed success outdoors, I am sure that isn’t uncommon because of all the variances. If it isn’t a climate, soil or weather issue the bugs, deer and rabbits seem to up their game to be as big of a PITA as they can. It will just about bring you to tears to see a healthy crop devastated overnight, I felt as bad about that as I did when a deer ran out in front of us and I totaled our car.

It’s not going to harm you, I even drink a tablespoon of DE in some water if I have a stomach issue. I just usually use neem oil on the greenery, but never on the buds.

I was lucky to see both of these legends at different times, it’s sad that time takes away some of the best way too soon. Buddy is still kickin’ I saw him a couple of years ago, still a real guitar slinging stage man.
