Does anyone know anything about the New Shoe/Leather terpene? I have noticed a similar aroma from a few different strains. Every plant I’ve grown with this aroma does not result in a desirable product. I have had friends tell me that the smell appears peppery to them as if they were smelling ground black pepper. I would love to know if my grow style is causing this or is it genetics?

new one to me 🙃

The chemical profile (chemotype) of a trichome can be extremely diverse with combinations of so many different compounds. For context, there are about 400 known cannabinoids, 6500 known flavonoids, 1,100 carotenoids, 200,000 known terpenes (about 200 identified in cannabis) and several other organic acids that play a role in effect, taste, smell and flavor. There’s damn near an infinite number of combinations between these compounds.

@jmystro thanks man. I have noticed that only the plants that get stressed out during veg or early flower do that but I had no idea there were so many different compounds inside the tricomb
