I’m having issues with using grow dots and recharge. I used to use t5s, and canna. But all my seed starts are struggling with led, grow dots, and recharge. Any help is appreciated. Don’t mind the mess, I gotta shop vac it out lol, the kids keep me pretty busy. They were all watered 2 days ago, all the seed starts do fine, but once I switch them to cups they go downhill.

Worst case scenario I’ll have to switch back to using canna. I just had high hopes with grow dots. 🙁

I don`t even add any nutrients until around the 2 week mark. You are more than likely burning them up with nutrients before the plant has a chance to establish its root ball. Leave the grow dots out of the soil in the solo cups and only use them in the final pot and you will get much better results. Recharge is fine but get rid of the grow dots till you up pot.
I use 25 grams of grow dots per gallon pot. I was told that by Jmystro here on the forum and so far so good.
Another good tip that I wish Id knew sooner… cut the bottom out of your solo cup. Drop that into another solo cup and then fill it with plain un-amended soil. When it comes time to up pot just remove the first cup and push the root ball up and out much easier with less damage/stress to the plant.

I poke holes in the bottom of all my solo cups both clear and red. I usually just pour water in the bottom tray. But I have never had any trouble with growdots affecting seedlings. I personally don’t think the nutes from the dots are feeding the first week or so, but I could be wrong on that. @jmystro , can you help this guy out.

Thank you both very much. I’ve always used canna nutrients and never had issues. So I knew I was messing something up. No grow dots until theyre established this time, ill try that out. But don’t they need nitrogen when they’re younger to get established? Or just straight water and recharge. I’ve used recharge for years now. But grow dots is new to me. I’m used to mixing the bottles lol.

@malakii Issues with seedlings typically starts with some type of stress to the roots. They need little to no nutrition for the first 2-3 weeks in most cases. They look overfed and over-watered. It’s ok to start seedlings in the solo cups with little to no Grow Dots for the first 10-14 days. Then transplant the seedlings into a real pot with Grow Dots. Gotta let the tap root get more established during that first week before watering on a regular basis. I would wait at least 3-5 days before watering them again and get them in a pot.

@jmystro yeah I try to only water them once every couple of days. I thought we were supposed to put grow dots with them as soon as they get roots. So I think that’s where I’ve been messing up.

@malakii I put my recharge in the bottom of the cup. I put my germinated seed just under the surface. My theory is by the time the roots reach the dots they will be needing the nutrients. I go from the paper towel to the solo cup with 7 g of dots in the cup.

Looks like a variety of problems here, but no worries, we have been there. To me your soil looks too dense. I don’t see any perlite, add some. Nutes shouldn’t be needed early in soil so leave that alone. You don’t look over watered but be careful about that, it’s better to be dry. Keep trying, it will click.

Dang bro, clean your grow before you get more problems. No disrespect intended but that’s not good

@oldestschool I know, but with 3 kids running around and running a company I don’t get as much free time anymore. 🙁 that’s why I switched to grow dots hoping it would save me time. I’m not in my 20s and can spend 3hrs a night in my garden anymore. It hurts me more than you. Trust me.

@malakii lol looks like I can feel you again bro. In my sixties crippled the last 25 years. Pain is my companion. It’s always there.

@oldestschool I stopped doing ph years ago. I’m on well water now. I used to use city water, but now that I’m on wellwater I just don’t ph. We’ll is better than city water. I have pics of my old grow, but I’ve been out of the game for about 2-3 years. I just started back up.

@oldestschool I know I know. Especially since I own a lawn care company. I just really haven’t time with a 1yr old. That’s why I said don’t mind the dirt. I’m growing for personal, not commercial anymore. It’s tough watching a toddler and shop vac the room out now. A single dad can’t do it all man.

@malakii sure you can. You have been doing for over a year. You got this. I understand no time. Raising kids are hard. My hats off to you Sir. It takes a real man to do what your doing.
No disrespect about the mess. You were talking about having troubles and I just didn’t want to see you have more troubles. Mold, bugs
Talk about troubles. But you’ve grow before so you know what’s what. Was not shaming you.

@oldestschool back before u had kids I just always used canna nutrients. But I love the dgc, so I wanted to give grow dots a shot. Lol I promise I’ll shop vac the tents out tonight after work, or tomorrow. It’s been bothering me as well, but usually I’m in a rush trying to take care of everything. So my grow game has been slacking.
