This year my tent is going to be full when it’s time to harvest my outdoor buds. I usually just turn the lights off and hang my buds in my one and only tent. Any suggestions for how to dry my outdoor buds without that tent? I don’t care that much if it’s smelly, I just want a good dry.

Build a homemade Cannatrol out of a wine fridge, a dehumidifier, and a controller. You can build one for less than $400. Or buy a $400+ Humidor that does the same thing on Amazon.

@GuppyGirl a wine fridge will be way to small for any respectable outdoor grow. Indoor grows measure in ounces, outdoor grows measure in pounds…

@frogslayer I get that. But you can hang them for a week or two first to help them skinny up a little, and then get as much in as you can. The rest you can Mason Jar / can dry and you’ll also then have something to make a comparison with.

@GuppyGirl I do have a wine fridge that I store already cured, vacuum sealed jars in, but you’d need like a walk in wine fridge to hang outdoors in for drying. It’s a great idea though.

if you don’t care about the smell, what about using a clothes airer, lots of different sizes and designs?

I just dryed my outdoor grow in my inside tents,(3ea) I had one fan blowing the wall near the floor and kept my negative pressure fan/filter on as well. Worked great, been in trim jail 3 days and finally finished up today, good luck and have fun! Also kept my vpd at around 69’f. And 54-55% humidity

@pungolian thats pretty much how is been doing it but since I mostly just grow indoors I have the tent available at the right time to dry. Now with a few extra outdoor plants I’m looking for an alternative setup. I feel like I’ll lose some of the niceties of using a tent but no other options for now. I saw you had some awesome looking buds so glad to hear you were able to get that all trimmed up 🙌

@noah.og i had the same issue last year with my outdoor grow because i was running inside as well. What i did was blacked out my garage, brought in a bunch of fans and bought a dehumidifier and a humidifier. Very tough to control the humidity and temperature and my whole harvest basically turned to hay smell. Didnt ruin it completely but definitely ruined the smell and taste terps. That is the reason i decided to use my indoor tents this season. Good luck buddy!

@pungolian I read some people trim at the rate of a lb per 4 hours or some even faster. That has always stuck in my head and makes me wonder why does my trimming take four times as long. How long does it take you to trim a lb?
1-
@farmville based on what i just finished, i averaged about 3/4-1 lb a day by myself. With plenty of smoke breaks…..and im old so I usually take a nap or two during the day…….lol

Honestly depends where your at, the weather in Minnesota this fall for growing flowers has been crazy good. For drying, the rh has been swinging from 15 to 100 percent so pretty much, control is going to be necessary here. I, intentionally planned my indoor harvest to have the tent open for my outdoor harvest. The swings are so crazy, without a dehumidifier and a humidifier, I don’t see how you could possibly get a decently consistent dry. If you live in a more stable climate there might be hope or keep a room in your house a stable climate otherwise sometimes greed outruns efficiency…

@frogslayer they sell ac units for the window that double as a dehumidifier. Well they got a dry setting on the ac. One could scrape by using that but it’ll be a close dry almost being lost to mold and perhaps getting to dry without a small humidifier

Don’t overthink this to much. Find a room you can close your vents to like your bedroom. Get an ac for the room. Get a dehumidifier for the room. Get a humidifier as well. Also blackout curtains for your windows. Then you’re in business.
Give your room a day to acclimate to as close to 60/60 as you can by setting machine parameters and waiting a 6 hours to a day. Then Hang hooks from the ceiling in a corner of the room. Make sure to set all your machinery in closest corner to your plants but not the one they’re hanging in. Use a hygrometer in the room and keep your door closed for two weeks. You should be able to dry perfect in there.
Keep in mind +-10/+-10 temp/rh is the worst you’ll want it to get or terps will be lost. Once you’re done drying put some long sleeves on warm fuzzy pants and a sweater and you got yourself a perfect trim room. Don’t turn your machines off until all bud is in your cure jars and your trims in your trim bin.
Please try this way. With an outdoor harvest you will have a lot of plant matter to dry and I want to see someone else try the dry room challenge lol

@farmville That’s pretty much what I just did, except I used clothes airer racks and a 1 ton A/C unit and a 14 litre per day mobile dehumidifier. After a day to stabilise my room was good to go. It all worked out well.

@battlemorph now there a hammock in there lol
