Some grow great with no training (those with a large central cola and few branches). I think it just slows them down if you do. Which is the last thing you want. Yes, the clock is ticking. How fast seems to vary between strains and even phenotypes of the same strain. I’ve had some that were in flower after 3 weeks of veg and a few that vegged for 6+ weeks. Those were from the same 5 pack…

I’ve ran a bunch of autos this year with good results. In general this is how it goes.. I plant directly in the soil in a 5 gallon fabric pot with a misted cup on top. 47/47 have popped so far. They get only 8 Oz of water every other day for a week. Then 16 and 24 the next 2 weeks. After that I spit a gallon between 3 plants for the rest of the grow every 2 days. After week 3 (5 or 6 nodes) I usually start some Lst and regular defoliation. I do as much research as possible beforehand to see what a particular strain likes (lots of grow journals out there). I don’t top any of mine. Some don’t even want to be tied down, I’ve had a few that were stunted immediately and started flowering very early resulting in a plant that was only 12 inches tall…. When defoliating I usually take a few off every 3-4 days right up until flower. Then let them have a week or two to finish stretching. A good trim after that to make sure all bud sites are getting enough light and that’s it. Maybe some LLst during flower just to open things up on the tall ones. I run my lights 18-6 from sprout to harvest starting at 10% and increase 10% every week until I hit 900-950 ppfd. That’s usually week 6-7 if they aren’t responding negatively. I’m still learning but this is what’s working for me. I’m in Happy Frog soil and using GH Flora nutrients. Also Recharge every week until mid flower.

When my lights go off temps drop from 85 to 75. That’s really the only difference for me. My humidifier is set at 65 but with the exhaust fans running 24/7 it holds around 55 all the time. Maybe a little spike but not enough to shut the humidifier off. Those numbers are for my big tent with autos vegging. My 2×4 is basically the same but it’s in flower @45%. I don’t have a need for a dehumidifier, it’s usually pretty dry here. You might need one for the basement though..

There ya go, the typical response you’ll get.. I have no problems with potency, taste or smell. I currently have no desire to clone anything. I’m not pheno hunting looking for the best weed in the world either. Most of what I’ve grown has been on par with anything I was getting at the dispensary at 1/10 the cost. Right now my family has 2+ oz of fresh flower every week to smoke. And a different strain every week or two. If I find something I love I enjoy it and when it’s gone it’s gone. So what? That’s not always the case though. I ran a 5 pack of EZ Bake from Trilogene and they were all basically the same (structure, terp profile, potency, yield). Same thing with the Gelato og’s…. But like I’ve said before, my biggest complaint about autos has nothing to do with the plant it’s the people.

I’ve harvested like 35 autos so far this year without any herm issues. I would guess the over feeding triggered it? I know that doesn’t really answer the question but that’s not why I’m responding. Now, concerning the response on Reddit.. I have learned a lot growing autos. What sticks out the most is the negative view most people have. There is so much hate out there it’s hard to get help. The funny thing is most of the haters have never even grown an auto, they simply repeat and exaggerate things they’ve heard. I’m not saying there aren’t drawbacks to growing autos but they don’t deserve all the hate, and the people growing them definitely don’t…. I hope you have a better experience here. ✌️💚

I’d let it go another week. I’ve heard that sometimes they need flipped to 12/12 but haven’t had to do this with any of mine yet. Some of them just veg longer. I recently had one well into week 6 before flowering.

Personally I saw nothing wrong with your posts. I appreciated your response (pictured above) to my question, it was exactly what I needed. So, thank you… I don’t really understand the theory that you were a bot. Why in the world would anyone have a bot here of all places? Posting pictures and answering questions? To what end?… Anyways, I hope you stick around, there are a lot of good people here. ✌️💚

I believe @scottyreal mentioned he used it back in the day on a recent episode. Sounds effective but it messes with your sense of smell. He said he has a hard time smelling weed now. 😟

Here’s the deal. When I started growing I started with autos. With the fastbuds mix packs I could run a bunch of random strains. I did this with purpose, to learn as much as I could as fast as I could. Running 12 different strains at a time isn’t easy but I got the basics down pretty fast. That was the point. Now I have to move my big tent and have 3 months for another run before having to move it again. Autos seem to be the obvious choice right now. And honestly I have no complaints about them. I’m growing for myself, wife and my mother. We’re all heavy smokers and we haven’t spent a penny on flower since my first harvest 6 months ago.
