• A few of the bags are almost completely colonized. The jars are cool. The tidal waves started at opposite ends and then met in the center. Just so cool looking and all in 2 days. The Enoki are almost ready for fruiting. The blue oysters are about to go into substrate bags to continue colonizing. It’s going to be another busy week of pressure cooking substrate.

      • If you shake them they will rebound and be fully colonized in a few days

        • I can wait lolol i’m in no rush for extra work. I just love watching fungi colonize substrate or grain. Just so cool looking with the brush structure. Made me think of “Creation of Adam” The top colony reached out and touched the lower colony. Just like in the painting, the top colony is doing all the heavy lifting while the bottom is just chilling there.

To your comment below, Thanks for the tip. I’ll give it a go next time I make grain spawn. So far, the heavy-duty aluminum and the micropore tape have worked perfectly. The 3 enoki jars only took a week to fully colonize and taking about 2 weeks to colonize 1450g of substrate.

          • You really should just shake them when they about 25-30% colonized then it mixes the colonized grain around and then they colonize evenly in way faster time. Then you don’t have to worry about the center not being colonized when the outside may look fully myceliated

I do shake them. I did shake both jars after the picture as well as a few bags. I just have a million other things going on. Don’t need them outgrowing my workload

          • Yo yo so a couple pro tips, when your’e making up your jars to pc use tyvek envelopes from the post office. Trace your lids and cut out your filter disks have a single hole in your metal lid w 3m tape over it put your filter disks over the lid then your band. Cover loosely w aluminum foil to pc and after pc finished aluminum can come off. I’ve had pced jars sit out un used, clean for over a month with no cover just the filter disk. If youre doing MSS go to AutoZone and get high temp rtv sealant and put a dollop over your hole you punched in the lid. Once dry you can inoculate through the sealant and it will auto seal when you pull the syringe out. Sorry for popping off w shit I just love myco talk lol. Hope that is valuable info for ya!!
