• help! Stop the stretch!

I’ve been growing this Godfather OG by Elite seed co. This is the third round, and I keep getting thin colas cause she won’t stop stretching throughout flower. She’s starting week 6 of flower per this photo. She goes 9 weeks to finish.

the final result is flavorful sticky bud, not mad at the product, but would love some thicker/ prettier buds!

in 5 gals canna coco with grow dots and recharge.

new millennia decision when flipping, and new mils winter frost in week 8.

same setup for all my strains, this is the only strain that consistently doesnt flower “out” just “up”

You can help influence a tighter structure by keeping the light as close as possible in veg through the transition to flower, but structure and vigor is ultimately genetic. Low light causes the shaded part of a stem to elongate it’s cells. This is how plants lean towards an artificial light source. Spectrum plays a small role as well. More red, more stretch. Day/night temp differences are another influence. Cooler day temps than night temps will help prevent stretch. My flower room runs 78-80F during the day and 80-82F at night for this reason. How much bud produced per node site will depend greatly on genetics. Some will produce a certain size bud no matter what. While some plants will produce bud sizes based on total number of nodes on the plant. More nodes, smaller buds. Fewer nodes, larger buds. Total bud production can be based more on root mass than vegetative biomass so healthy roots are most important.

        • @jmystro there little to no intermodal stem. It’s flower stacked on flower. The issue is they don’t start to plump, just keeps adding more flowers on top of flowers till I cut it down. Too much nitrogen?

5 tablespoons Grow dots for 5gal container. Maybe cut the next one down to 4 tablespoons?

I have 2 in veg now, I usually fill them at 4 weeks in veg per the Grow dots recommendation. Should I push them to 5 or 6 weeks to try and spend all the nitrogen so there will be less in flower?

          • Genetics. They do what they want. You can’t force a plant to produce when it genetically can’t.

        • What’s your feeding schedule saying and which nutes .. not seeing any fade in those leaves just really shiny green which to me says too much nitrogen

          • @ol-no-7 This strain never fades in color, even with Winter Frost at week 7-8. I’m thinking too much nitrogen. Next round maybe 4tablespoons Grow Dots instead of 5?

          • Im not sure what your day and night temps are. But they shouldnt vary more than 10 degrees to help prevent stretch.

            • Thanks guys, but it’s not a “stretch” issue so much as a won’t stop creating new flowers issue. Week 6 and it’s still creating new top colas fresh, without plumping up the previous bud spots.

im using 5 tablespoons grow dots in a 5 gal container, maybe too much nitrogen?

my temps are 80-83 daytime, and 78-80 night. I might switch that up per the info by Jmystro, but again my other strains don’t have this issue, and are on the same grow dots, in the same flower room, so I don’t believe it’s light or environment.

              • The issue is in the genetics. She doesn’t care what you want.

                • @jmystro That bitch, lmao! Thanks always for the top tier info!

                  • Welcome to the club. I’d give anything to make my Lemon Cherry Pie produce buds bigger than literal popcorn. I buds I’m holding in my profile pic are 200 gram colas from my Martian Mean Green. She comes in all shapes, sizes and colors. It takes a combination of the perfect environment and perfect nutrition for a plant to reach it’s peak genetic potential. Dialing that in for any specific plant takes well over a year of testing.

              • I would try growing her with different nutrients all together and see what happens with her?
