• New to the indoor tent grow scene. I’m looking for recommendations for a pen or meter to accurately measure ppm dissolved solids and also read ph in soil and water.

      Thanks butcher!

      • I used blue lab but tbh I started using recharge over 2 years ago and I grow with coco coir and use canna coco nutrients haven’t worried about ph since the recharge and I only use 1/2 teaspoon per gallon nutrients mix once a week saves so much time and effort recharge is my go to plant doctor lol seriously I recommend giving it a try

        • @Truthiswisdom would you tell me more about your setup? That sounds a lot like how I intend to grow.

          • @GuppyGirl nutrients- canna coco, silica, calmag plus, and recharge once every weekend for microbiology.

Media- canna coco only helps prevent bugs and I reuse in same container for years to save time, money and labor.

Water is from tap I use right away.

I also prefer sea of green style only with a (bamboo stake for support if needed) easier trimming and bigger buds.

            3 gallon fabric pots.

400 w led in summer but in winter I do use my 1000w hps for the added warmth since I am a garage grower at the moment. I used to be organic and outdoor only now I live in a city and so I do mineral based hydroponics. I’ve been growing 22 years I’m still a novice and to be honest I keep it super simple and cheap so I can spend time on the finer things in life. It used to pay the bills but now I just give it away to those in need and i hand out free seeds to n e 1 who’s n need. I wish u happy growing and remember the best time to start growing was yesterday!

          • Thanks, was wanting one for testing my well water to determine what type if any, filtration I might need also to check soil as a starting point. Would also like to know how much dissolved solids are in the water I drink. Hoping to put up tent soon with fan and carbon filter, the two lights, a above and below canopy oscillating pair of fans, and some of their self watering soil pots with a separate reservoir. I want to dry run for a few days at each light intensity level to have a feel for how high to adjust fan speed to maintain acceptable temps for each setting. These are not bar type leds, they are a pair of vipar spectra xs1500pro with the lensed lens. They say they run a little hotter than bar style. I just want to know where I stand for a starting point. If it keeps temps higher than I would prefer I can box the carbon filter with a pair of 8″ holes on the bottom of box and run metallic flex over top of each lights heatsink at the driver. Not touching it but within a few inches above it fixed to maintain this distance while raising the lights. This will remove the greatest heat source of the tent out thru the carbon filter and exhaust fan immediately. Thanks for your opinion on the ppm/ph pen!

          • BlueLab, as mentioned above.

            • Also, you could send a sample of your well water to get tested. Then you know what’s in there for sure.

              • Thanks, I’ll try and get the blue lab soon as able. Would be best to know what those ppm’s are for best type filter following a test.
