I have a question pertaining to the flower phase. The last two harvests I’ve had, during weeks 4-6, my fem plants start producing white seeds. During the first couple weeks of flower, there are no signs of male plants, just white hairs. But, like I said, they start producing seeds during weeks 4-6. This last run, a Girl Scout Cookies from Black Skull seeds, was babied and made as happy as possible.
They have been showing signs of a nutrient deficiency, with the yellowing of lower leaves, and slowly moves up towards the upper leaves. I’ve read that during flower, plants have a higher demand for Magnesium, which is what I’ve attributed the deficiency to.
I guess my biggest question is, why are they producing seeds? Will a nutrient deficiency cause them to produce seeds, even if the environmental parameters are good?
Ive been feeding Gaia Green 4-4-4, and 2-8-4, along with worm castings.
Pictures: the scrog is the previous harvest, so you can see the issue with the deficiencies. The non scrog plant is the GSC, along with a picture of a seed from that plant

Have you ever had a male flower I there? It could be some pollen hanging around. Idk I’m interested in the other answers 🙂
-
@marizema never had any male plants. Is it possible that the opening of the seeds (from a female) before this GSC released pollen? I have 4 GSC clones that are ready for flower, but I don’t wanna flip them if they’re just gonna make seeds

I can’t tell from your pic. Is there actually a seed forming? Or is it just a swollen calyx?

@Gato420 I believe them to be seeds. The pollen sacks are slightly split, with a white casing showing through. This happened to the plant before, and after drying and grinding it up, I did find seeds

@Gato420 I can get a few better photos this afternoon

I would say you got a he/she on your hands. Check the lower nugs for “nanners”. Never grew gsc but I hear she’s got some intersex issues

@2cangrowny I’ve checked them too with no signs of nanners. Only white hairs

Could they be herming from stress?
1-
@GuppyGirl that’s what I’m thinking, but other than a deficiency, they’re happy. Could a deficiency cause herming?
-
@darth_nater15 I think any stress, if sufficient, can cause it to herm, right? Though it sounds like the strain has some known issues. I’m fascinated by this, I can’t wait to learn what the root cause is.

@GuppyGirl stress would be my guess maybe from a light leak during the night cycle 🤷♂️

A stable plant will reveg with a light leak in flower. Stress or no stress, intersex plants are trash.

Any light leaks during lights out? Any fan or dehumidifier have a bright indicator light? I had a dehumidifier in mine years ago with a blue on light that caused seeds. A black piece of tape over the light and no problem since. Hope that helps.

It’s producing seeds because it is pollinating itself later in flower so the seeds do not have enough time to mature. This occurs on the inside of the biud. Not all herm plants produce pollen sacs that are visible. Intersex traits are genetic not always brought on by stress. That plant is trash.

@jmystro I had a fat kids cake do something like that. It never appeared to produce any pistols. They had to have been tiny. Never saw any banners but the bud was riddled with malformed seeds

are those like microseeds/miniseeds or fully developed seeds in the end?
