Apologies if this question has been asked and answered but here goes
My nutrient schedule indicates i should use PK 13-14 on week 5 of flower.
Are there any visual clues i should look for in the plant that would enable me to fine tune exactly when to start using this product?
terpking, bnr and 2 others-
You may be able to use a chlorophyll meter as you dial in the PPM of the PK . PK at week 5 should be roughly 700 ppm

You think you can use a chlorophyll meter that measures nitrogen levels to indicate flower development? This is not the way.

No, he was asking if there would be a visual indicator. Thats about the only thing i could think of pointing him to.

£250 – £300 for a meter.
I was hoping the plant or the flowers would give a visual clue? Spending that on a meter is not viable.
I don’t even use a pH pen or an EC wand.
I monitor pH with pH fluid and borrowed an EC wand to take a measurement of my nutrient schedule.

Knowing when a specific genetic is in peak bloom (when you want a PK boost) may be difficult for a new grower to tell. Are you growing from seed or clone? No one can tell you how a seed will perform so you’ll need some experience to know what to look for. If you’re growing a clone and have been told the exact flowering schedule then the person who gave you the clone should know how long the flower time is. I’ll assume what you’re growing will take around 8 weeks. First of all no chart can tell you what your specific genetics can handle. With new genetics it’s often a guessing game based on past experience. Use a bloom booster too soon and your plant may foxtail pushing to finish. Too late and the plant is already in the ripening stage and it’s of less use. It’s not a bad idea to ramp up then down a PK boost instead of using full strength for a week like a lot of feed charts suggest. I’d start quarter to half strength max to start and see how your plant/s react. In an typical 8 week variety you can give a low dose week 4, a higher dose week 5 and the lowest dose week 6. If your base nutrients are between 600-700 PPM, during peak bloom you can use about 200-300 PPM of the PK 13/14 to land at a total PPM of 800-1000.

Thanks for the input.
I generally grow from seed and if I like the strain, a keeper, then I’ll mother a clone and use that.
Although I have just received a Back to the Future clone that I personally didn’t grow from seed.
Just depends really.

just use grow dots and recharge u won’t have to worry about nunadat

@GrowDotzbydapound yes growdots are great. However if you’re trying to max out the plants potential, nothing wrong with figuring out when and what to boost it up with. Growdots are great for new growers to get to harvest and for older growers looks for harvests. I have like 5 bags of dots. Definitely a fan but there are additional things that can be added

I’ve been growing on and off for 20 years, I’ve come full circle and back using Canna nutrients and a 600W HPS. I just couldn’t get the results I was after using alternatives and LED arrays. It’s a pain in the arse in the summer but fantastic in the winter, I can use the tent extraction to help heat the house.
1st image is my Somango which has the foxtailing, the other is my Royal Gorrila. I didn’t have an up to date image of the GSC.
Images were taken end of week 5.

you should be seeing a noticeable uptick in bud size and density come week five – that’s when they want more. some strains will start this a little earlier, some a little later. just keep an eye on them
