• Stoned thought but im sure im not the only one who’s thought about this idk.

How do you keep on the schedule for feed if you superseded it with a longer vegg cycle before flipping to flower? The feed chart doesn’t correctly corespond to the plants stage because of the longer vegg. A 4-6 wk vegg compared to a 10 week. So if the plants older than that, how would you guys go about calculating that to get the correct inputs? Obviously guessing going into flower isn’t a good idea and can ruin everything.

To me that’s definitely a bump up in nutrients and now makes sense for deficiency’s i had and not getting enough of something in particular. They were super hungry and weren’t getting enough. I live in double digit subzero’s in the winter so I started planting in april inside. 3-4 months of vegging under GT LED low watt grow light bulbs and $40 Amazon lights, you know the ones, they’re all over Amazon 🤣 then upgraded to 4-SF1000D’s.

I did not learn this from fertiliser companies, too many people think that the companies who are selling something have the best advice about that thing, but i call that a conflict of interest. And when growing outdoors you dont get to flip the lights when you want, so observation and local experience are key to understand when its gonna flower, with a good eye and regular inspection, you can see it bolt before flowers apppear, Or do a quick calculation; substract the number of weeks of flowering(as declared by the breader) from the last week you have acceptable conditions and begin using flower formula at that week. So when its growing fast around one month, use full veg formula, to wich you can add some flower formula after the second month and then as the flowers appear move to full flower fomula and keep it steady.

        • @FlowFrog thats pretty much it. The guessing game to adjusting amounts. Granted I haven’t been doing this for years so figuring out the nitch at the stage while going through it was my test.

        • Plants are not born with an instruction manual. Charts are guidelines at best. Mineral ratios and concentrations in veg do not change much. Newly rooted clones and several month old mother plants receive the same nutrition. Large plants can handle a slightly higher concentration. The ratios do not change until flower no matter how long you veg. Only the volume of water/feed changes as pot size and root mass increase.

I figured that was the deal because I was consistent throughout vegg but when I flipped, not knowing and guessing, once the leaves and everything got jacked up it’s hard to tell what’s working and not other than leaf color striations from deficiency or excessive amounts and the burn. I mean you can’t reverse damage done. I wasn’t familiar with the strain and how aggressive at feeding they could get and at that size. It was 1gal every other day at medium feed ratio so with that and the charts are a little heavy (for sales) it should have worked in my favor but learning this plan over the last year definitely gave a bigger understanding. I just hate guessing because you can’t always fix a mistake. I’m a construction framer by trade 20+ years so guessing I don’t do unless it’s a must and not a detrimental part of the build because engineers suck at plans lol. I take that to my personal life as well to get a complete understanding to eliminate guesswork but seems in this case it’s all you have till results show and hopefully perfectly documented to avoid it again.
