• Hey growmies, about to reverse a clone for the first time. Question is, can you start the STS spray before the clone even has roots or should I wait a few weeks to let it get established? TIA

      • I am not speaking from experience on reversing clones, but I would suggest letting the clone root and establish a root structure before trying to reverse. Reversing is going to stress the hell out of the plant. If it were me, I would let the clone root and get into a 1gal before or larger before trying to reverse.

        • That’s what I was assuming but thought I would get some input from experienced breeders.

        • Nah bro. @chonkynugz is right. Go ahead and root your cutting. After it is rooted and established, then you can start the STS about 7 days before putting in 12/12 light.

There’s more to it, but it isn’t hard. I make my own cultivars. You just have to put in the work and get the experience before you get really good at choosing which plants to breed with and breed together.

If you’re new to breeding or new to reversing, I’d recommend watching some old Rasta Jeff videos. I’m sure I used STS the first time because of him. He will break it all down and even give step by step instructions on how to get the TIMING right.

btw: his method worked for me every single time from that very first reversal. I have more than ten cultivars I’ve created for myself. It all started from a Grow From Your Heart video with Rasta Jeff’s timing instructions. (He also has a video explaining step by step how to make your own STS at home for cheap)

          • @Unk_Curleys_Cannabis_Emporium Thanks! I’ve watched Rasta Jeff’s videos as well as a lot of others. I’ve been planning to do this for a while and knew people use as small as solo cup or 1gal plants but wasn’t sure how early I could start. Anyway, I’m not going to grow through the winter anymore and have a beautiful plant I want to run again next year so I’m hoping to make myself some seeds! Thanks again

          • …and if you’re breeding for yourself, great, but if you’re breeding to sell seeds, it’ll take some time in order to make “stable” seeds. I grow my own stuff out several times before I feel comfortable gifting seeds to my friends/family. I use them as my “testers” after I’ve already tested them myself

            • #o-h-i-grow absolutely! I’ve done it in 1 gls most of the time, and even solo cups sometimes. Just make sure it is rooted first. In fact, I’d get a few clones so I could self them all at the same time to get plenty of seeds if I’m using solo cups
