• First time cloner. I typically grow from seeds but i need to learn how to clone. Two methods im trying is in a seedling soil with perlite in solo cups and aeroponics. My house stays about 70•. My cloner doesnt have a dome so i have a makeshift one for now. After ~36 hours i checked water temp (by touch) and it felt cool. I have a heating pad under it now. Im using distilled water with rapid start (cloneX is on order) PH at around 6.2. My stems are starting to curve upwards and some ends are splitting (thought water was too cold, hence the heating pad). Doesnt seem normal to me. What am i doing wrong? What can i do to improve and what supplements does eveyone use? Thanks in advance!!

      • I haven’t used a cloner in a while. I know I had trouble with water temp. so I’d like to see what the peeps say. I went back to putting cuts into rooting hormone and then into seed starter mix with some worm castings, although I am in the process of switching to hydro so, I’m going to be experimenting with coco or because my temps are more manageable I might go back to the cloner based on the info. you get.

        • @Papa_Shaman I put 6 cuttings into a Jiffy seed starter with some perlite mixed in inside clear solo cups that are inside red solo cups. I cut holes into the bottom of clear cups and watered them in pretty heavy with PH 6 rapid start and drained out excess and put them inside a makeshift dome made from clear totes. I’ll have to get some worm castings to mix in for the next trial.

      • Here’s what I use to root clones with pretty much 100 percent success rate. I actually place this water reservoir on a heated mat set to 78 degrees. I do pH down to like 5.8 after adding the fertilizer but before adding the recharge. I use a gallon Ziploc bag over the whole thing as a humidity dome. They work great but capacity is limited. I’d like to move to a larger mister type cloner I’m thinking so I can have enough clones ready for my friends and me for next year.

        • I use a DWC cloner never had a dome I don’t even trim the leaves… I can cut 12-14 inch clones and they root no problem save a couple weeks on veg time and you don’t have to ween them off the humidity , just completely saturate the soil when you transplant ( if you use soil) and they adjust to the soil as it slowly dries out

          • @ol-no-7 what do you use in your water solution? And my humidity stays around 40-45 in my house. I’ll have to try without the dome next trial run and see what happens

            • @smokie-herbario Clonex… and when I water in the clones after putting them in soil I use the remaining water from the cloner to do that , keeps things familiar to the clone as it adjusts

          • EZ cloner recommends water temp of 75 to 78 degrees.
