a day agoAsk a Grow Question For my Hydro Growmies. This is my plan for a flowering table. Please critique and give feedback. I don’t want to use any pumps for anything other than air stones.
Hydro Table Design
4 X 3’ table with 3” high sides
table lined with appropriate material for water sealing
uv proof resin cover with holes cut to fit 3 or 1 gallon air pots for preventing too much evaporation and mist/ humidity.
5 gallon bucket with float valve to maintain water level in table at aprox. 2”
several air stones to aerate water as well as keep nutrients from settling.

I think you could grow in just about anything that’ll hold some water volume. Sounds like a fun and interesting project though. Post updates if you decided to build it. I’d like to see what you come up with.
I’m germinating a seed right now to use for my first DWC. A little intimidating tbh. I wouldn’t care if I screwed things up, I’ve got plenty more seeds, time and everything else I would need. But for some reason screwing up is what’s causing the the feelings.

Have you considered a venturi valve for aerating water?

Air temperature and quality is a concern when using an air pump. You want the water temp around 68F. Do not pump hot grow room air into your reservoir, especially if supplementing CO2. Air stones are not going to keep salts from forming. You can not see plant available minerals. Any particle you see in your res is unavailable. Some salts will always form in reservoir unless the metal ions are chelated. A stir pump is good to mix nutrients but stir pumps and air pumps are not going to prevent bonds in concentration.

@jmystro Should I just simplify to a drain to waste? I’m not trying to put in a whole bunch of controls. I’m lazy so, I was just trying to put something together like a dutch table minus the pumps on timers. I don’t trust our electrical grid to not fail, we get brownouts all the time. Thank Ya.

@Papa_Shaman Drain 2 waste is the most reliable way to grow in coco to maintain mineral/pH buffer. This is nice at small scale. Large scale hand watering gets time consuming.
