• Maybe a silly question but, when you talk about tent temps where are you taking the reading?

The reason I ask is, the bottom of my tent is 72ish, the middle is 80 and the top is 86 or so from the light wattage. Am I just doing something wrong?

      • at the top of canopy for me, I try to stay within an inch of the top of the plants. heat rises but I dont care about the top of the tent as far as the plants are concerned the top of the plant is as high vertically as it can perceive

        • @HeavyZakuCustom Does this mean we should be more concerned about the root temp than the flower temp (as long as the temp doesn’t cause damage)?

@battlemorph I think all temps are important to monitor and maintain. when in doubt, I mimic nature. soil is cooler than the top of a plant for sure but im not an expert in any of this and aside from drawing conclusions from the naturally obvious Im about as educated as any random stranger on it and cant really speak to what is best or more important, only from my experience and from that I got repeated advice, and get the most consistent readings at the top of the plant canopy.

I feel like root temps would matter more in a DWC system because I could see the basin getting too warm, and recall seeing some growers with air foil insulation wrap on their buckets

        • I measure temperature at the top of the canopy!

          • Leaf surface temperature (LST) at the canopy is what you want to measure.

            • @jmystro will a forehead temp infrared thing do for leaf temp or just a par or light meter this is the most confusing to me so I try to keep the canopy 83° or less getting the canopy air temp under 83° is a challenge I want like 75°

              • @growingcorners42 Proper air circulation prevents micro-climates in a grow room. Ideal leaf surface temperature (LST) for most cannabis plants is around 82-84F. This is the ideal canopy temp. Easy to achieve with LED but bulbs with IR will raise LST 10+ degrees. HPS room should be 72-75F to achieve about 82-85F canopy.
