Ok growmies, so my father in laws dad has bad Dimentia and I brought up since well you know why we are all here. I was told he’s tried smoking, eating and doesn’t like how it makes him feel. I tried asking questions but they dont know. My assumption is the dispo gave him too high of potency so he didn’t like how it make him feel. He’s got back pain and drinks alcohol to help it like i use to do. Has anyone had to deal with a situation like this either with themselves or a family member and how to go about getting him/her some edibles or a vape that helps and wont jack him up too bad other than quarting each edibles and a lower THC vape. He’s being treated like a lab rat and it saddens me, biopsys, poke, stick cut etc etc. he’s old and a great man just struggling and seeing I’m probably the closest he’s going to get for getting a correct dose of figuring out what will help or application wise. Any suggestions would be awesome everyone. I just want him to be comfortable because he says he’s irritated by everything the Drs are doing and putting him through.

      Thank you everyone

As someone that is not a fan of cannabis that is 15% THC or more, I can understand how he feels. I do medical grows for acute anxiety(I can’t drink coffee or anything high in caffeine) and pain management (discs in my back). Now, I have heard of dementia management with cannabis. Ease your dad into edibles at night with a low THC/CBD blend. Anything under 5% THC will not make him “feel funny”. CBD in the blend might be effective treatment the next day. I find the CBD effective for almost 24 hours.

It is super hard to find herb or light edibles, so I grow it myself. You might have to as well. When you are new to cannabis, less is sometimes more and very effective.

        • @dirtbag007 that’s what I was thinking and I’ve been consumed in this because other people are telling me don’t worry about it. Nope, that’s not how I work and especially with the 3 buldged discs and pinched sciatica I’ve been dealing with so I know his pain. I just ordered Paloma JR’s cut since it seems to do his pain relief well. I don’t take pills anymore because it gave me a horrible ulcer from all the pain meds.
Anyways, yeah, finding that right ratio of THC and CBD . I mean I’ll finish whatever he doesn’t so I’m not worried about that.
One of the biggest parts was him drinking liquor. If he mixed the two I completely get why he didn’t like it.
          Thanks bro

        • get him on a low carb(keto) diet asap, dementia is type 3 diabetes, insulin resistance in the brain, caused by too much sugar and starch(sugar once cooked)

          • @QualicumChronic I don’t deep dive into his business but yeah he was having to stay away from certain foods for thanksgiving. Guy still threw down an 12oz sprite bottle of vodka. Only admitted it as they were leaving lol. Fn guy haha

          • Maybe try a ratio? They are super mellow

            • Look up the brand earthy gummies. Like 0.5% thc and 24% cbd. They worked very well for my late grandfather who had cancer. Helped ease the pain and gave him hi appetite back sometimes. He didnt like anything that made him ( feel funny) as he would say. I can send you a link if you need it. Wish him all the best.

            • Sorry buddy, yeah probably just to potent ….. also, maybe try some fungi – lions man with any type that contains psilocybin … micro not macro…. Just saying because of neural pathways and all.

              • @no-nanners I’ll give them evidence and whatever that supports that because there’s a bit out there but I’m not going to introduce that to him. I’m treading lightly on this because they are old school so staying with the herbal THC remedies.
